The location is perfect, just 10 min walk away from Qianmen and Tiananmen Square, you can also find subway and bus quite easily around there.
The cafe bar is really nice, good place to meet friends.
Beds are pretty comfortable, I stayed in a 14 bed dorm, quite a big room, not crowded at all. The A/C works well, hot water 24 hrs, and oh! the bar opens 24 hrs as well, which is a bonus!
The price is quite reasonable in Beijing, esp at central area.

We stayed in Beijing at Xiao Yuan Alley Courtyard Hotel for 3 nights. It is lovely small hotel in Chinese style. It is very friendly, pleasant, comfortable and cute! It is situated in an old Beijing district Hutong, which is probably the only bastion of traditional Chinese climate left. It is situated max. 30-minute walk from the Forbidden city.

Featuring charming, ultra-helpful English-speaking staff; the Xiao Yuan Alley hotel provides comfortable beds and good facilities, with a superbly located downtown hutong (Beijing alley) location, sensibly priced organized tours (if you wish) and excellent and very reasonably priced food available inside and nearby outside the hotel. And it's a very affordable place.
I very much want to stay at this hotel again. I get happy just thinking about it. Highly recommend.

I love the bar/resto and the rooftop! A nice place to hang out at
night or when we just want to rest for a while. I like the location
because its still in the middle of city but it's not as crowded or
as noisy as other city centers. It's also very close to metro
station. All in all, it's perfect place to stay! Very excellent and
helpful staffs too

The hotel is just a few minutes walk from Tienanmen Square, in a very colourful area with plenty of restaurants and shops.
The room was simple but clean, the towels were changed every day.
The hotel has also a very cosy bar/restaurant area, mainly used for breakfast, and one or two computers are available if you need to use the internet.
Most of the staff speak English and they are happy to give you advice on the best ways to get to places.

The staff was friendly, and the location is great. The rooms are old fashioned, but if you need just a place to sleep, this is good value for money! Whenever we needed assistance, the staff was always helpful.

The most cozy little hotel in Beijing. Almost impossible to find in the small narrow hutong alley-ways, it makes the perfect hideout for travelers curious about what's behind the facade of modern Beijing. The area is just stunning, with bars and noodle shops everywhere. The staff is super friendly. Just don't expect any luxury or wide space dining
