  I came to San Diego to attend a conference and visit. I was really interested in a clean and safe location where I would literally just sleep and shower. I loved that there was a cafe/diner right by- it made breakfast easy. It was a great location- just a walk away from the coast and the gaslamp. The staff were helpful. I'm a pretty easy going girl who have to get ready for Halloween party and this place was just ok for that.

  The rooms were really nice and the beds were super comfortable. Staff was very friendly.   The position of the hotel on the bay, and our bay view room had excellent views which made for an interesting stay. Nice pool area, just big enough, and towels were provided which is a nice touch. A shuttle bus was available to take us to three different areas of the city and also regular trips to the airport.   Loved our stay. We live only about 30 mins. north of San Diego and try to stay at the West Gate at least twice a year. It is like being on a vacation even though we are residents.   This was by far the best hotel we have found in San Diego. Luxury for a very reasonable price! Impressive from the moment you see it from a distance, impressive parking, impressive, AMAZING lobby, amazing guest service, amazing everything. The room we chose was a corner King suite... I loved how close it was to so many areas of SD. The pool area (with the firepits at night!) looked wonderful, but it was so windy so we didn't stay. I also loved the old pictures throughout the hotel. If you are from SD it was particularly super to see them.
