We live 60 plus miles from the city and have come in often for weekends and stayed in numerous hotels over the years.
This is by far the very best experience we have ever had and I will never think of booking any other hotel. I only hesitate to give it more kudos for fear of having others book it when I again want a room. Thank you Desmond Tu

I loved the large rooms and bathrooms and the beautifully tasteful renovation of the old Seminary building - very classy. But especially the location near the High Line for walking and near Chelsea Market and all the great restaurants. The staff was super accommodating an genuinely nice and there is a gourmet coffee/tea bar in the lobby with lovely fresh backed goods for the morning.

I have found my "home" for my overnight stays in New York City, for business and for leisure. The staff are fabulous, very friendly, professional, cannot do more to help. The pool is great - at times (weekend afternoons when the sun is out) it is quite a "scene" which might annoy someone looking to relax but it is what it is (and at other times it is very relaxing). The restaurants are very good and the rooftop bar/club PHD is great on a Saturday (although be aware that it is run separately from the hotel so after 11 or so, being a hotel guest does not guarantee access). staff - friendly and very helpful, changed our room the following day we asked for it, rooms - very nicely arranged and clean, cool metro-style bathrooms, lavender aroma and pretty good complimentary coffee. very good location, just next to Highline, quiet during the night, comfortable mattress and good size bed (King) in our first room. The staff, location and excellent value. The rooms are small but very nicely equipped. 22nd street is more quiet than most, so the street noise was very low for NY. Neighborhood is full of restaurants and shops, subway is a short block away, and there is a Citibike stand right outside the front door.

Staff we're amazing. We went to celebrate my partners 30th and they help arrange champagne and chocolate Strawberries for our arrival in the room and managed to upgrade us and give us an early check in.
The plunge bar was very cool and had some cocktails which were great. Shame it wasn't the weather to use the pool :-(

Loved the convenience of the drive up and valet, although $50 wa a little expensive.
$265 room with 2 lunch salads and 1 small pot of coffee and a bottle of water (room service) and valet put the room charge to $460. Ended up being pretty expensive for one night. We may consider staying again, but more expensive than we expected.

It is a nice and quite hotel. Rooms are convenient though not luxurious and beds very comfortable. Internet is included and fast enough for the backpacker to do occasional research on restaurants, facilities etc.Location is ideal to visit Manhattan, harbor etc.

Better than the Belvedere! I visit NY all the time and usually stay in 4 star hotels, sometimes 5. I was a little worried about the Gem, but decided I should try it out. Best decision I made. The place is a gem. It is compulsively clean, beds are new and all white, bathroom was pristine, and the reception staff could not have been more helpful.

We arrived an hour early and were let into our room which we didn't expect. Staff were very friendly at reception and gave us free spanish tapas vouchers for use at the bar in the hotel. Lovely modern room with a huge really comfortable bed (more comfortable than the bed on the cruise ship that we joined a few days later). The beds are comfortable, rooms has a good size for a hotel in Manhattan - Clean and nice!
The bar is open til 02.00 and has a smoking area.

The staff were brilliant. On check in we discovered another persons luggage in our room. They promptly removed that and then put us in another room....along with 3 free breakfasts, cocktails, beer and food! Gave us a late check out at no extra cost and the bar staff are very friendly. A great, clean comfortable room and not far from the sights or subway. I would stay again.
