Having stayed in April and having not been impressed, we can only congratulate the staff on the changes. The staff are friendly. The welcome and check-in excellent. The restaurant staff helpful and atmosphere of a good place to work, which gives for a good place to eat too. Food for chain not bad and food a good quality. Hotel was clean and quiet, we were at the opposite end to the bus station.

Family room very spacious, bright and very clean. 5. Highly recommend it as a place to stay for a weekend of shopping or leisure. Shrewsbury has been waiting for this hotel for years. You can stay there and rely on consistent standards. We have stayed in nearly all the hotels in the town, of all stars, and this was the best. Convenient location, excellent security for guests, great food, good bar and comfortable rooms. Very helpful staff and what a joy to be able to do self check in. Excellent, Professional, Helpful Staff. Special thanks to Amber on Reception (who helped me locate the car park by actually walking me through) and to Mark (Restaurant Manager?) who, when the Fish & Chips evening meal we had was poor, apologies, took action and compensated for the disapointment. Location was great, right in the centre of Shrewsbury & all its fantastic facilities. Perfect location for visiting Iron Bridge Gorge & its 10 museums. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Family room was a good size with adequate facilities. helpful staff . we were able to leave luggage before and after our stay. dedicated dining room with courteous satff and a good breakfast choice. excellent disabled room with great comfort and two pillows with firmness choice .good security. The facilities were great, staff warm and enthusiastic and the room clean. All in all great value for the money and if we were to travel to the region again would not hesitate to stay there or recommend to friends. From the very large comfortable bed, the high quality food in the restaurant {and they don't mug you with high prices either}, the cleanliness to the highly efficient staff our stay was excellent. A little gem! The staff were absolutely fabulous. They were helpful, polite & nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were comfortable & spotlessly clean & the breakfast was lovely. Excellent location for railway station & Theatre Severn. Staff excellent: helpful, available, informative. Very good breakfast. Quiet policy at night Felt safe Everywhere very clean. For a family with 2 young children - there were 2 single beds and a double bed in the room - excellent. Food was excellent. TV remote control was missing but one was found very quickly. Excellent location, very clean, good sized room for 2 adults and 2 small children (1 large double plus 2 singles), very good breakfast, very friendly and attentive staff. The breakfast was excellent (even though we had to pay extra) and the hotel is modern, clean and comfortable. The nightstaff were friendly and accommodating. Extremely friendly staff and very helpful. Location excellent, only a few minutes from the town centre and a lovely tea garden over the road by the river. It's a lovely new building. Being a new hotel everything was good from the accommodation to the staff. Excellent staff, great location, affordable, good food, comfortable rooms. The rear entrance from the carpark is a bit awkard when you have cases to carry in. Lifts do not always respond to the buttons causing delays especially at busy times like breakfast. Buffet was not inplace for breakfast and time to serve meant we had to rush out for out meetings. 1.A better deal could be struck with the carpark payments.eg 8 pounds is ok for 24 hours however there should also be a facility for payment for shorter stays.We ended up paying for an extra 24 hours even though we were leaving at 9.30am that morning. 2. More choice of vegetarian option on menu. Nothing. Its the best place to stay in Shrewsbury. We will definitely stay again. The lack of any 'pull-in' at the front of the hotel - I couldn't find the car park and wanted to ask directions. Lack of cooking staff on the evening we decided to eat in the Thyme restaurant. We sat down to eat at 8:30pm & had very long waits for both starters & main courses. We gave up on desserts as it was 11:00pm by then!! Waiting staff were very apologetic. We were given 2 rounds of drink 'on the house' to make up for the wait. Only negative was the hotel car park wasn't signposted, which was a bit confusing as it seemed as though you were driving into Wilkinson's goods inward entrance. Nothing. At dinner, there seemed to be some type of delay/problem in the kitchen as orders came out only half filled. As a result, we sat down to dinner at 8pm and left the table at 9.45pm which is a bit to long for children. The parking was a nightmare. We took wrong turns twice and then a long one way circuit through the town to get back to the entry. After a couple of days had cracked the entry . Need signs to the car park at the back of the hotel. Windows in room don't open for safety reasons so have to use aircon. What is going on with the reception desk? It was like doing self-check in on Ryanair, screens everywhere and no real indication as to what to do. The two young ladies behind the desk seemed troubled when I asked them to check in for me and didn't know anything about the local area. Is traditional hotel service being McDonalised too?. I did ask for soya milk when I made the booking and was told it is usually out at breakfast - it wasn't and I had to ask for it and wait each day...last day had to ask three people before it came, but they were very apologetic!. Everything was perfect. Although the hotel doesn´t have parking, we could park our car across the river for a reasonable price and cross the bridge by foot. It wasn´t too far and we didn´t have a lot of luggage anyways. That was not a problem to us. Nothing special. It is a little bit difficult to find parking. The map may be helpful. The fact that the curtain came down when I opened the curtains in the morning!. What is not to like?. Whilst the rooms were very clean, tidy and comfortable, there was a shortage of wardrobe and clothe drawers. Ok for a one night break, but more needed for longer and families. few issues with automatic check-in not working properly. Nothing of note to mention. the car park was a little difficult to find, wheelchair access to the hotel was via a small wheelchair lift, could be a problem if not working. The 4th pop up bed was very hard so not very comforatable. Could of done with another chair in the room. A fridge would of helped. The windows are sealed shut! Apparently this is 'company policy' according to the reception staff. We both awoke with headaches and sore throats, being used to sleeping with the windows open and access to fresh air! This was a big downside of the hotel for us, especially as the airconditioning was far too fierce. The Bar closed at 11pm and had to disturb the reception to get ice & water. box of hankies in room wd have been nice parking is expensive. Car parking was really difficult , expensive and took ages on a Saturday. Probably best to advise to park over the river and cross by the footbridge rather than us the multi-story. Difficult to find the car park in the one way system. Having to pay £8.00 per night to park.No free Internet. No information in the room for the telephone number for reception. Paying to park, although it is good value. Rooms are air conditioned but it would be nice to be able to open a window even if only slightly. Lack of free parking. same about car park although well light and looked safe under cover being run by council was strange had slight problem with booking as form only put 1 person per room instead of 2 but staff sorted well. There was nothing ..... no level access to the front of the hotel (difficult with a pram). Paying £8.00 per day for parking !!! This charge was not mentioned before booking and we stayed for 2 nights - Thats a bit naughty !!. No onsite parking isn't very convenient if its raining. Nothing to complain about.
