This is a little out of the way and not easy to get to with public transportation, but we were extremely happy we made the effort to stop here. We very much enjoyed our stay here. The house and rooms were clean, comfortable, and incredibly charming. The hosts were very nice and friendly, and breakfast was delicious and they are able to accommod

A great welcome, Friendly, Clean, Would have stayed longer but we was booked in across the road at the Craig y nos castle which i'm sorry the rooms are not worth the money at £150 per night but this B & B is 100% Worth the money for £65 per night so me and my husband recommend this totally.

The hotel is set in a nice location convenient to Hay-on-Wye and the Black Mountains.
The staff were excellent. They were friendly as well as efficient. Nothing was too much trouble for them and made a nice stay even more special.

Quiet,comfortable,room
with parking facilities nearby. Comfortable bed, lots of floor space.Good quality furnishings . The full English breakfast was excellent, piping hot and individually prepared not self served from buffet trays that ,in many hotels are luke warm after standing for some time.
Shower in ensuite was powerful easy to adjust and water temperature perfect.
Soft towelling robes supplied was a very nice touch .

Everything! The room was cosy but perfectly adequate with clean bedding, all mod cons and a pretty view across the fields. Bernie and John were wonderful friendly hosts who not only plied us with delicious home cooked breakfasts every morning but also gave us great local info as to where to go and what to see (OS maps were v useful thank you!) We stayed at Cerdyn Villa for three nights and we really enjoyed our
stay there thanks to Bernice and John.They're wonderfull,friendly
and welcoming people who make their guests feel like at home and almost
as a part of their family.John helped us a lot by giving as tips where
to go and what places to visit.Not forgetting his lovely,tasty
breakfasts with daily,freshly baked bread and fresh eggs from their own

Relaxed and friendly staff who went out of their way to help us with our 9 mo daughter. Hearty breakfast included. Freshly cooked, large meal portions from the pub downstairs. Comfortable bed. The owners were fabulous. Even though we arrived very late they still gave us the full gourmet restaurant service and their friendliness and interest made us feel that we were staying with old friends. - quiet, very nice view, lovely people, very good restaurant

Stayed in Room 1 - fabulous huge room with en-suite bathroom, wardrobe, period fireplace, 'home comforts' (TV, tea/coffee facilities) and best of all, extremely comfortable and cosy king-size bed.
Room was spacious and tastefully decorated.
Breakfast (full British) was delicious and arrived quickly when ordered.
Ruth, the hard-working co-owner/receptionist/waitress/chef(!), was very friendly and helpful - it was nice to get a text from her a couple of days before my arrival asking what time

My husband and I loved staying here. We have't relaxed as much as we
did here for years. The owners were a delightful, friendly couple who

Welcoming, friendly and considerate owners. Room had rather an old fashioned feel, in keeping with the coaching inn pedigree, but the bed was very comfortable. No TV but there was a bedside radio which is always a plus. The hotel has a luxurious guest lounge to sit and read in. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent.

Relaxed atmosphere - Old Black Lion is a wonderful old period building- 13th Century! Friendly attentive staff, smashing manager. We enjoyed great food (had both evening meal and breakfast). Excellent welcome from the owners. A lone female sometimes does not like to leave the room to sit and eat and drink in the bar/restaurant. I was made to feel totally welcome and at home amongst friends. My breakfast timing was catered for without question. Would definitely recommend

Location was alongside the main road but so little traffic at night got woken by the birds rather than the cars.
