Great location within walking distance of both Windemere and Bowness.
Helen, Phillippa and Trevor all pleasant and helpful. They even took us
through the kitchen at breakfast time to see the Deer in the woods at

the hostress, Phillipa (hope I didn't wrongly spell her name) was very kind. She welcomed us with delicious tea and cookies, and provided us some milk and cereal when she heard we had to catch up an early train and would miss the breakfast - hmm, the breakfast was quite good here. The room was clean and cozy, enough space and we even saw a deer outside the window. Overall it was really nice stay, I could understand why this guesthouse could get such a high rating.

From the warm friendly welcome on our arrival which continued throughout our stay,to the excellent facilities of our accomadation and the superb home cooked food made our stay very special,we definitley hope to return in the future and highly recommend Bessietown for any traveller.10/10 -

fantastic place to stay,ran by lovely couple Steve & Gail.
after a long journey our exhaust bracket on car had snapped,while Gail showed us to our room Steve strapped exhaust up to get us home after our stay.
the room was clean & nicely decorated with everything we mite need,bathroom was clean & a good size.

- Owners of the guest house are excellent. Provided useful information of places to visit, eat and drink
- Free parking at the house
- Windemere town is a few minutes walk and the lake approx 15mins walk (or £3.50 taxi)
- Clean comfortable room
- Direct access to room from garden by the car park making it easy to bring in bags and not disturd anyone if getting in late
- Free WiFi
- Good breakfast
- Excellent value for money given the cost of hotels in the area. Wouldn't stay anywhere else when

the friendly nature of the hosts, the wonderful information they provided both in a written and verbal manner about the area and the breakfast - wonderful - The guest house was central to where we wanted to be. The friendliness of the owners. First impressions and facilities were excellent.

Extremely warm welcome and they let me park my motorcycle indoors so it was totally secure. Very friendly. Also (free) wireless in my room. There's another greta pub over the road from this one with a georgeous barmaid! Both highly recommended. - Excellent breakfast. The hotel communal areas and our room were spotlessly clean and well decorated. Lovely room overlooking the rear gardens. Breakfast was exceptional due to the choice and flexibility of options available. Owners and staff were friendly, but left you to your own devices, which was good. Option to order champagne for the room on arrival, which we did!
... τι λέει ο κόσμος » A very relaxing break! - We had the most delightful stay at The Willowsmere. Martin and Sue are wonderful, warm hosts. Breakfast was delicious each morning! Our rooms were charming and comfortable. Martin gave us great recommendations for eating in town, and for taking drives around the area. It was the perfect Lake District guest house experience!

The location was very attractive, the accomodation was immaculte, the pub food was really outstanding quality, and the beer in the bar was good. Also the atmosphere in the hotel lounge and bar was very pleasant. All the staff were obliging and helpful. Not many hotels offer this quality of accomodation and facilities. Only thing it would be short on is maybe leasure facility like pool\sauna but guess this would make it a Hotel rather than a pub. Most pleasant and relaxing break.

We stayed in the new Silver Suite - it was extremely comfortable with a most beautiful view across the water.
Needless to say, but the food was magnificently presented and absolutely delicious.

booked for two nights but had to leave after just one night due to

Everything was exceptional. The place is a typical country house with very clean rooms with white crisp towels and bed linen. I am a wheelchair user (complete paraplegic) and found the access to be excellent. I would go as far to say that Meadowcroft is probably one of the best places I've stayed for disabled room facilities. The option to book a disabled room from the website is a very good touch, I usually have to phone ahead to confirm that the room is appropriate for my needs and available, which this function eleviated, if only other sites/hotels did this.
The room was spacious, comfortable and extremely clean.
