The staff were really friendly and helpful. We ate in the resturant, the food was very good value for the money. My partner had the mixed grill for £12 and he couldnt finish it! which was very unusal for him. The location for us was ideal, we had planned a couple of walks, one over Offa,s Dyke and the other at Ellesmere Lakes both well worth trek. The showground was worth a visit too it had a very good Vintage and Craft Fair on. όλα τα σχόλια »
The staff were so welcoming and caring to a 78 year old lady. They helped me find the places I needed to go to. They were attentive to every one of my needs, and helped me with my large suitcase. Wonderful people with the true spirit of Wales and Shropshire.
Located in centre close to all amenities, shops, bars & restaurants. Bar attached to hotel. Asked for wine glasses & ice bucket on arrival & it was in the room. Nice spacious room with bathroom, breakfast was gr8 too. Not much we didn't like.
It was booked at very short notice..The kitchens were out of order the night of my stay. the staff looked after me very well. meal take aways etc.[best fish&chips I have ever eaten] chippie across from hotel. well done `smithfield`.
We had a very warm welcome from the staff when we arrived and that was our experience for the whole stay. his was the best thing about the hotel which was also very comfortable. From the management down, this place welcomed.
We had our son and daughter and grandson of 4 with us. They had a family room and we had double room both excellent and beds very comfy. Towels soft and fluffy . Food was good. Staff very friendly.
Staff were very friendly and is a close run business. Also nice locals. The mixed grill is fantastic!
It's great how you can also order food until quite late!.
Room 13 was lovely as big windows looking overlooking the town. Friendly
greeting and everyone chatted to us in the pub underneath. Very friendly.
every body made us so welcome and were very understanding of young children and very helpful carrying luggage and buggy upstairs.

Rooms 5 and 10 are spacious. Staff are friendly and breakfast was pretty good. Overall good value for a short break with good access to East Wales including Llangollen.
The staff are do helpful, we will be returning with out two very young children. If u take children let the staff know so that they can get u ground floor family room.
Really good English breakfast cheerfully served. Location near centre
was handy and bike was safely stored in the bowels of the building.
Convenience for Oswestry Owner very helpful in spite of staff problems.
Beds were comfortable, pleasant twin room for me and my adult son .
Friendly welcome, spacious room. Nice breakfast.
Food was excellent, staff were really good.
Quite good value for money.
Location.
Nil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
All good for the money. If anything - a little noisy from the centre traffic but what can one expect smack bang in the town centre. We were welcomed and everything made easy by lovely staff. Will defo use again.
Nothing - good experience.
music was to loud gave us all headaches could not hear each other speak.
The old pub next door was closed due to lack of trade, which is
perfectly understandable but a shame as I think that is the main
attraction.
just the amount of stairs to the room but a lovely hotel.
. Traffic noise (understandable given the hotel's position) could affect the very light sleepers.
the front door step is easily tripped over at night
the coffee sorry.
No negatives only Car park could be bigger,.
The hotel is being refurbished bit by bit so the corridors are a bit out dated.
The window in my room rattled.
Bit noisy at night, Then again it was saturday night. TV kept switching off but didn,t bother informing staff as we only stayed one night.
A bit cold.
Unfortunately there were a few people staying on the saturday night that were a little rowdy at 4am. Other than that I couldn't fault the smithfield.
Could not open windows in bedrooms. Servic at 2nd day breakfast was
poor, hard to get girls to take order, no choice of toast, ran out of
orange juice and was not given butter/marmalade. (First day was
fine). Really need side plates and small knife for breakfast as eating
toast on same pate as full English does not work.
Had no biscuits with the tea and coffee which I missed. Sink was small with shelf above which made it awkward to brush my teeth. Perfect otherwise.
We were so glad that we had down sized our luggage for just an over night stay or we may not of got up those stairs to our room with our suitcases.
there was nothing to fault our stay.
Loved everything.
No Internet on my second nights stay but there was a storm in the area that night so I'll let them off on this one.
i found the sink too small. and i think the room 8 should have had net curtains on windows as it faced the street.
Very noisy, the windows did little to keep noise down.
Not well identified.
All ok.
Was no internet on my second night but there was a storm so I'll let them off.
a little bit noisy (goods traffic) in the early hours!.
litter still in the bin in our room.
tv was not fully tuned, only a select few channels available.
It was the hottest night of the year and a fan or air conditioning would have been wonderful.
As others have said the carpets are in need of at least a good steam clean. Could not get shower temperature above warm. Only downside really was noise. Stayed on a Saturday night and all rooms have single glazed sash windows. No noise proofing at all so was awoken at 2am and 4am by rowdy lads on the street outside the hotel. Probably fine sunday to Thursday but avoid if a light sleeper on Friday and Saturday. Secondary sund-proof glazing would make a big difference on the street facing rooms.
The room was noisy from the heating of water but it doesn't bother us, it might have if my children were with me.
Very small wash basin with low shelf above. I knocked my head on the
shelf when cleaning my teeth! I thought £60 was steep. At £40-45 it
would have been reasonable.
Smell. Poor room service. Decor. Grubby carpets.
The pub part seemed very bare!
The shower would not run hot, only tepid/just off cold.
Room was very cold. Luckily I had packed my own tiny electric fan heater - but if I hadn't, it would have been a miserable evening and a cold start to the next day.
Stairs &. Size of room was a single, not a double. Noise from room 10. Went on till 3am.
My booking included breakfast however the hotel staff stated that it did not and would have charged and additional fee.
Fact that everything was done thru the pub and it didn,t feel like a hotel.
The coffee at Breakfast.
