From the word go the experience, and you can call it that, was great. the staff were caring and nothing as too much. the table for the evening as all arranged. the young man showing me to the room was pleasant and able to get the points across. When it came to the food we were given enough time to consider everything and then order. Delivery and content were excellent and again the service was great. The following mornings breakfast was more of the same and at the end when I saw the bill .
όλα τα σχόλια » Travelled to Lavenham for a weekend break. It is a beautiful little town, steeped in history with pretty tudor buildings lining the streets. This Great House is set in the market square in the centre of the town and is a beutiful building in a wonderful setting. Our room was beautifully decorated, very spacious and comfortable and fully equiped with coffee machine & complimentary sherry! The icing on the cake is the hotel restaurant - the food is amazing! Make sure you book your table ahead. My room was in the Eaves, which was quite quaint and romantic. Certain areas within the room though, may prove challenging for some one of a taller stature. The beams may be too low if you are over say 6ft and above in height. The food was absolutely fantestic, 3 course meal and breakfast was excellent and could rival any of top Hotels in London. Also, the complementary Sherry was a good touch, coffee machine was great !!. the atmosphere of tudor style , the location in the centre of town, the food, the stylish decor and the extra attention to detail in providing things like dressinggowns and slippers, washers and nice soaps etc. very accomadating to our needs. Had a fantastic valentines night at the Great House staying in a small but cosy and beautiful room in the attic of the house. The staff were welcoming and our meal was superb. Would definitely recommend and will return. Beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. Our room was large and very smartly appointed with a great view of the village square. Will return again in the future im sure. The most amazing room in a tudor house that is situated in a wonderful town with the most incredible history. Very comfortable with friendly and great services. Beautiful building with lovely rooms and absolutely wonderful staff. Superb French restaurant with a cheese trolley to die for. Great wine list. All round excellence of hotel; delightful ambience of well provided & comfortable rooms; experienced & courteous staff; cuisine superb. Rooms were amazing, food in restaurant is exceptional and if you choose the set menu, definately good value for money. Cheese board a must. We loved the room and everything in it.. The bed was so comfortable but it would have been nice to have a bath in the king suite. While being a 15 century building they have allotted space for the amenities. Great dining, and our room was very romantic. Beautiful bedroom, wonderful food, very attentive staff. Disabled friendly in that they were very supportive and helpful. Excellent in every aspect. The breakfasr was excellent. French hospitalty and cooking, Tudor building with all its quirkiness. The helpful manager and staff,together with the superb accomodatio. The food was excellent and the staff were courteous and helpful. the service, the food was so good and the room excellent. Everything, super room, food was out of this world. Large bedroom with separate sitting room. standard of little inclusive extras. Parking is tight. Not an issue in December but in , say, mid July, I could see you struggle to park outside and there is nothing the hotel can do about it. I cannot fault the Great House! It was a perfect stay. I don't think that there are any negatives I can take away from the Hotel. nothing. Nothing. Leaving without tasting the food from the restaurant. Unfortunately closed on the days we were their. The menu looks amazing!. Bathroom was cold in the mornings. Having to decline a full breakfast the next morning as was too full from dinner the previous night. Staff were distant and for the price breakfast should have been included. They close the restaurant Sunday afternoon to Tuesday morning and no staff are there for the room guests. It would have been nice to be able to get a bucket of ice for our wine. Also the Wi-Fi was unreliable. bedrooms are upstairs and not wheelchair accessible, however this is a very old, listed building so any solution would be very difficult. There was a fair bit of noise from the kitchen in the room we stayed in. Although the room was clean overall, there were some stains on one of the chairs. There was fruit in the room but one apple was rotten so not sure how long it had been there..... Lack of staff in the evening and poor security. The breakfast was overly expensive and the coffee absolute rubbish. When complained about the lady owner showed no empathy or gave an apology. Lavenham seems to be rather quiet and devoid of people. Too many second homes. Monday nights are restaurant closed at the Great House. Having to walk up steep stairs to the top of the hotel, we are both in our 60's and my husband has COPD. We struggled up with our bags after a half hearted offer from staff to carry a bag but then went ahead without one. Room #5 in Summer is roasting as it is in the roof. It's bathroom is a triumph of form over function. Breakfast is not served until 08.30 making it tricky for business people but they accommodated me with an excellent, if expensive, conti breakfast. Granted we were there on one of the hottest weekends of the year but even so air conditioning in the restaurant and bedrooms would be welcome. Both were very hot. The smell of their astonishing cheeseboard tends to permeate the whole building. It is an expensive place to stay particularly when it does not offer a bar or sitting area downstairs. We were there on a Sunday and the restaurant was not openend. Coffee and tea making machine not easy to use. Did they have a garden?. Slightly overcooked vegtables at dinner and a extremly hard sausage at breakfast;I think it had been sitting around for some while before it was served. Missed the presence of Madame on the day.The room was correctly described but I wouldn't recommend it to the less agile-it was our only option. Poor bedside lighting Difficult to use coffee maker. there was nothing not to like. Room 5 has very restricted height access to one side of the bed - had to bend in half to get half way around it, and it was a small double bed. Otherwise, very nice bathroom. Characterful Room.

Please note that the reception closes at 23:00 Sundays-Tuesdays and at 00:00 midnight Wednesdays-Saturdays. Access to the hotel after this time cannot be arranged. Guests should please be aware that the restaurant is not open on Sunday evenings and all day on Mondays and Tuesdays. Breakfasts are available every morning from 08:30 to 09:30. If guests wish to dine at the hotel then reservations should be made before arrival.
