This traditional, family-run inn is situated in Horam, near Heathfield. It serves real ales and a range of wine, and boasts a huge oak veranda so you can sit outdoors in any weather. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, and there is free parking on site. Locally sourced ingredients are used to make freshly prepared food in the restaurant at The May Garland Inn. A full English breakfast is provided each morning and lunch is served from 12:00 onwards. Rooms are situated in a converted stable building, and each benefits from a flat-screen TV, iPod docking station, and an en suite shower room. There are scenic country walks and nature trails through ancient woodland for guests to explore in the surrounding area. Drusillas Zoo Park Alfriston is about 9 miles away, where you can see penguins, meerkats, and a range of other animals.

The staff were all excellent, very friendly and welcoming. We stayed for two nights as we travelled from leicester for a wedding nearby at crowborough on the Saturday. Our meal on the Friday evening was excellent, we had steak and the prawns. The cooked breakfast was just as good and the coffee too. Thank you Asher, Philip and Sarah (and of course Lucky the dog) for an enjoyable, relaxing stay Cher & Ian.
όλα τα σχόλια » Excellent quality accommodation. Beautifully decorated rooms and clean, stylish ensuite bathrooms. Delightful pub with good food (good vegetarian option also). Friendly and helpful staff. Great location just 2mins ride from the Cuckoo Trail. Perfect stop over place on the London-Paris cycle route. Definitely recommended. Nothing was too much trouble for Asher and his staff. We arrived back to the hotel after the kitchen had closed and he made us some food without any hesitation. The cooked breakfast was delicious and the rooms were modern and clean. Would definitely go back there and recommend t family and friends. We were very impressed with the inn. The staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough for you. The rooms were comfortable and I was pleased to see plenty of tea and coffee in the rooms. We had a very enjoyable stay. Thank you. Comfortable good value. Nice room. The breakfast was very good. Although it was very easy to find with a map, it might attract more visitors if it was sign-posted from the Cuckoo Trail itself. At breakfast the staff were not in the restaurant to see when guests were arriving. I observed two couples waiting around for staff to appear to offer coffee etc. Perhaps a bell to "ring for service" may alert the staff to the guests presence, rather than having to call through the kitchen door. Nothing. Door lock was very loose. Noise from the road. No tea coffee making facilities. Some lack of cleanliness in public areas. Some may object to dog in eating area. Lack of privacy in rooms during day. (Blinds?) Kettle in room would be nice. Rooms were next to a noisy road. The pub itself is run down and although renovation is on the cards, this couldnt happen soon enough. Road noise very close to a busy road. Broken bed and the owner knew it was broken. The room had cobwebs,the shower was not very good and the loo did not flush very well.
