The shores of Grasmere Lake are just 15 minutes away on foot and the surrounding fells contain numerous scenic walking trails. Grasmere village is just a 10-minute walk away. Home-cooked meals are available in YHA Grasmere’s restaurant, while guests can also cook within the self-catering kitchen and make use of the dining room. There is also a cafe on-site and a small shop for guests. The majority of rooms at YHA Grasmere’s contain bunk beds. Guests are able to relax in spacious, lovely grounds, whilst there is also a games room and Wi-Fi access.

This spectacularly appointed building is set slightly above the village of Grasmere. Our welcome was warm and genuine. The room was basic, (what we expected), but suited the purpose of a clean cosy place to stay at the end of an adventurous day. The breakfast was fantastic, as were the packed lunches and evening meals. The location is just sublime and peaceful. We will be going back again.
όλα τα σχόλια » We travelled with a small child and were made to feel very welcome, with the travel cot set up for us on arrival. The hostel is a lovely old building in a stunning setting and a two-minute walk from the nice shops and cafes in the village. We booked dinner at short notice and were very pleased with the quality and price of the food. I can't fault anything!. Great attitude of staff - lovely initial welcome and then the Chef who also helped out on reception was so very helpful in planning our walking trip and was genuinely pleased that we managed it following his instructions! Great location and beautiful surroundings. Would definitely come again and recommend to others. We booked a family room that was clean and comfortable with 4 beds for three of us. The toilet and shower were very close, almost like an ensuite. the kitchen was very good with all that you would need to cook any type of food. The hostel is in Grasmere so it is not far from the little supermarket. Beautiful setting in the heart of the Lakes--my favourite place! Good breakfast. Very helpful staff, who dealt very diplomatically with 2 difficult problems with fellow guests--a Dutchman who wanted to stay in our room with his wife, and 2 Burmese backpackers who cooked their food in our dorm. Great setting - little boy loved exploring. Staff very friendly. We used the self catering kitchen which was very well equipped. Very relaxed atmosphere - food smelt great so would eat in the restaurant next time we went. Beautiful house. The location of the hostel was ideal, and the facilities were very good for self catering. I shared a 2 bed room with a friend and it was very clean, modern and comfortable. We had a fab weekend. The food on offer was very good, and though we slept in bunk beds, they were not in the least bit rickety and I slept well. been to Grasmere many times, 1st time staying in hostel, will stay there each time I go back now. Clean & cheap, so close to the village, wild deer in the fields. The mansion house itself and the brilliant location. No problems with the facilities, it had everything we needed. Very warm and quiet. And the price was ok. The price was excellent but I did have a special deal. There are plenty of toilets and showers although the two showers nearest to my room were out of order. Comfortable, decent sized family room - good kitchen and dining facilities and friendly, helpful staff. Good games room (table football was very popular!). Amazing gesture and provision for food is really delightful. I am glad to give the feedback about the place. Cleanliness is par the best. I was just gobsmacked how great the hostel is. I've already recommended it to other people who might like a short break in The Lakes. Everything about it is nice. The self-catering kitchen was excellent. The surroundings - it is built in a hill, feeling so relaxed and enjoy the countryside view very much. We can self cater, and have the meal in the garden. Single socket in the room, which does not suit todays tech. I would advise that you buy a plug board, prior to your stay if you have phones etc. to charge. Room did smell a little of damp. Think carpet might need some attention following which looks like there might have been a leak from the floor above at some point. Getting very little sleep on Saturday due to the Burmese ladies! Also the difficulties on arrival of trying to communicate with the very agitated Dutchman, before the warden intervened and sorted things out. Bed was hard!. Nothing. double socket in dorm not working. door handle broken to the dorm. reading room next to the TV room which had double sliding doors separating them was not very effective in insulating from TV volume, doors were difficult to close. I can't complain about anything. Breakfast could be served until 10am maybe - getting up and ready before 9 is a little harsh, when you're off work and have maybe been up late the night before. The heating was controlled from reception so I had to go down to ask for it to be turned on then back again when it was too warm...a bit annoying. We only had one night !!. Our 'double room' was actually a dorm room for 4 (2 x bunk-beds), but only us in it so not a problem really. Nothing. Other guests (some of): Due to other guests, not staff, the toilet and area was unclean. It was rather smelly in the entrance to the cottage accommodation and this may too have been due to guests. I don't understand why other guests leave a mess for fellow visitors to face and ultimately busy staff to have to clean up. Nothing the YHA was ideal for purpose. 1. all bunk beds 2. smell in lounge of self catering building 3.kitchen not attached to main bulding. Needs a bit more exterior lighting from carpark to main house. N/A. Members kitchen in a separate building down steep steps, an unpleasant walk in the rain after drying off from a full day on the fells. The self catering facilities were in another building and I felt not spacious enough for volume of people using it. Lounge chairs uncomfortable. The room is too small (we had a twin room), and there was only a bed and a sink. A bit noisy. I had no issues or complaints. uncomfortable beds. far too hot in the bedroom. Only one toilet on the upper floor in the annexe The sitting room in the annexe had a strong smell of cats as we entered. N/a. Too warm in room. Potential for double bed in twin room?. Noisy upstairs woke us. We were in the annexe block. Sadly we were surrounded by families with young children. The noise on friday and saturday of children running around and on saturday night the children were like pack-animals! I know it is a parents responsibility for their children. Had I known we would have been surrounded by families with young children in the separate annex I would have cancelled. As international visitors, english is not our first language. I heard a female receptionist laughed at our language issue after we enquried about the wifi. However, other staffs are very friendly and helpful. Regarding the wifi, it only works in the living room and costs 5 pounds. a bit noisy because we can hear people open and close the door. Small bed. The restaurant in the hostel only serves food ordered before 7:00 p.m. and the breakfast before 9:00 a.m. Musty damp smell in upstairs corridors. It needs airing, but the firedoors everywhere prevent this. Some locks faulty on toilets, so that other people walk in!!!. As a woman, I don't like the fact that I had to walk in nightwear, to shower or toilet, having to pass strange men in similar state of undress. Poor up keep of the building means its noisy, flooring is loose make the floor creek with every step. Water pressure to high from boiler making pipes klonk. Matresses useless for comfort. High noise in the room from the creaking floors!. We were charged for too many breakfast and it was only after we checked out on the Sunday that we realised when went back to discuss the reception had been closed and the bell removed so I ended up paying for about 8 breakfasts when we only had 4 so was over charged by nearly £20.00 and I was not able to question the same despite the reception suppose to being open from 7am-11pm every day!!!.
