Excellent facilities, very helpful staff, the room (19) was very comfortable with HD TV, the shower in the bathroom was vey powerful, the food was very good, unfortunaltly I can't comment on the breakfast because I had to leave before 7.30am. All in all I can recommend the Globe. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The restaurant food is surprisingly good and the prices very fair. Since my last visit 6 years ago the improvement to the rooms and the general decor has been updated to a good standard. The rooms were spotlessly clean and well equipped.
όλα τα σχόλια » I was here a year ago when the new crew took over and the improvement is immense. Still feels like a pub though it has been cleverly redesigned inside. Courtyard accommodation at the back has a proper coaching inn design, albeit shoved into the small streets of Topsham. Gorgeous bedroom, beautifully decorated, very comfortable and quiet. Very good restaurant and bar, superb food! Ancient, interesting building, in a typical little old fishing village with interesting shops and features. Very close to Exeter, but a real difference. We found all staff at the Globe very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Meals were very good and we particularly enjoyed fish and seafood dishes. The accommodation had been well thought out and was very comfortable. All in all good management obviously. Nice old courtyard-style coaching inn in small estuary-side town 10 minutes by train, 20 by car from Exeter. Neatly uplifted by an independently minded Cornish brewery. Food improving too. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was beautiful and lacked nothing. The food in the restaurant was very impressive, both breakfast and dinner. Great location. During our 2 night stay at The Globe, all staff we came into contact with were extremely friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the pub on Thursday night, the food was very good. the friendlyness of the staff,the comfort if the bar,the proximity of the rail and bus station,the quaintness of Totness the walks from the hotel,the menu. Staff were helpful and appeared interested in making us enjoy our stay. Excellent free WiFi in our room Very good food and a bar with great atmosphere. Everything was good but what stood out was the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. Food and service were excellent and beds very comfortable.. The whole atmosphere around the hotel, the staff were so friendly and made you feel as they wanted you to stay and enjoy yourselves. But as you can see if this was all I could comment on, there wasn't much wrong with the Globe!. The car park is very small and I had to park the car overnight in a public car park at the end of the road behind the hotel. There is a degree of split personality about the Globe it is neither Pub nor Hotel but a chimera of the two. Noise from the bar and outside "Smokers" kept us awake until 23.30hrs. The parking is a bit hit and miss but there is nothing they can do about that and I had no worries. Can't be helped, but parking is not on site - but there is a public car park quite close to the hotel. The roads are incredibly narrow and winding, not car-friendly! The hotel has done what it can to offset the parking problem. Nothing!. Not really any negative points, just we were in Room 6 where the lighting wasn't very good. the limited parking,the poor lighting both in the room and the bars,the lack of a comfortable chair in the room. Completely inadequate heating in the en-suite - one electric towel rail and no underfloor heating. Rubberised mattress protectors on beds should be a thing of the past - made a very sweaty and uncomfortable night. Nothing. Finding the car park and the lack of parking on site. Public car park within walking distance but if raining not good. Nothing. Car parking a bit of an issue. Lack of net curtain on window to provide a degree of privacy in daytime. Openess of shower to room. Would have benefitted from screen to afford some privacy.( Ok if with Bo Derek but not with Nora Batty!). Bar area was too small Heating in public rooms needs to be addressed. Outside lighting needs to be improved The parking facilities need to be better sign posted. Bedroom lighting was very dim, impossible to read a book. Extra cost for breakfast. Nothing we had a great time during our stay here. We were fortunate that the weather was very warm and perhaps a fan would have been useful to help cool the room. parking - the entrance is very narrow (through an archway in the house) - a big car will have problems to enter, walls between rooms are not so thick - the noise can be heared from the other rooms. Car park access was impossible in my car. If you're driving a 4 x 4 don't even attempt it. I ended up driving round the back and parking in a side street. That said, cars weren't invented when this place was built!!. The twin beds were a little narrow even for Mrs Woods who is quite a slim person. The breakfast wasn't worth the £8.50 we paid, we had to order it the night before and when me and my daughter decided we didn't want it I still had to pay even though it is cooked when ordered. The hotel car park was so small there was no room to park so we had to use the public car park. The parking was a fair walk from the hotel and you have to pay for it if your parked after 9am. We were lucky it wasn't raining but we would of been drenched along with our cases if it had been. No car parking Would say it is not 4* but a good 3* Plug in sink did not work. Shame we were unable to get a snack and drink in the bar when we returned to the Globe at 11pm on a Sunday evening after attending a Concert at Powderham Castle. Very limited parking. Internet signal was weak in our room, but worked OK. Access to hotel parking is difficult for unloading etc, although local parking is fine. Nothing. We had a fantastic stay. Car parking - very limited and double parking meant need to shuffle cars. Breakfast coffee. Leaving!! Car parking was very limited. Limited parking. Noise from the bar. Car parking very limited. Air-con would be a plus but it was very hot when we stayed there. Narrow entrance - do some reversing practice before you go. The car park has few spaces and on leaving it is a narrow exit. There is parking locally at Pay and Display but you need to remember to feed the machine at 9am. It would be beneficial for the hotel to give out a parking pass. Car park. Parking is pretty tricky.
