Excellent service and attention to detail - eg fresh milk in room fridge, piece of fruit. Everyone friendly and helpful.Hotel itself, location and surroundings. Excellent surroundings and food. Quiet location close to work. friendly, courteous staff, good choice and quality of meals and really nice overall atmosphere in the hotel. Ambience (slightly 'old-fashioned'),excellent service, excellent restaurant and wine cellar, location.Good location (not far from the quayside), parking, comfortable room, friendly and efficient staff.Location, lovely dinner and service altogether. The excellent food , the comfortable ambience and the courtesy and friendliness of the staff.Friendly and comfortable, excellent restaurant. Very helpful, and a friendly atmosphere. The friendly and attentive staff, especially the receptionist, barman, and head waiter. location, original building was lovely also the stream running through.little bit of nosie from kitchen fans?. Slightly over priced meals. TV didn't work (not that we were really bothered!). The extra bed was uncomfortable. More breakfast options would be good, not everybody wants to eat and pay full english breakfast.Occasionally the friendliness of the staff tended towards being over familiar.During our stay there was a wedding in the hotel and as the weather wasvery wet all the wedding guests were milling about in the hotel so therewas nowhere for residents to sit and have a cup of tea and our room, although comfortable, was not large with only one armchair despite thefact it was a twinbedded room so we did not want to sit in it for anylength of time. The hotel was redecorating (painting) the main reception rooms (lounge, bar) which are usually among of the nicest aspects of the hotel. We were not told this beforehand. The smell of paint was pervasive and detracted considerably from our enjoyment of this otherwise excellent hotel. We had to cancel a lunch reservation the next day for this same reason.there was a really unpleasant smell in lounge. some of the staff were a bit bombastic.
