The hotel is in the center of everything,literally near Bugis Junction and MRT, 10 minutes walk to the coolest places in SG, like Arab street, etc. Its a 4 dollars taxi trip to little india and close to everywhere. The staff were nice, but be aware of the extra charges like VAT on your final bill. 10 to 15%. All in all great deal for those on a tight budget. The Hotel is located near by city centre . so we can easy to travel by MRT , BUS and Taxi... also Bugi street and victoria street is near.. Rooms are clean and Front office Staff ( 02 lady's ) are very helpful they give good information about Singapore .Thanks to all 85 Garden Team... Regards, Benjamin George.
friendly front desk, always smile! clean room, easy access to everywhere shopping, sight seeing, many restaurants, near bugis metro station. must leave keys at the reception if we need room cleaning. have to stop at 2nd level for the reception to access to upper level, for security which i find it safe.
The hospitality there is superb. The receptionist is superb. All of them are very nice people. No lies. Especially there is this one aunty who actually gave me free food when i was staying. Such a nice lady. :).
Superb location; sorrounded by food chains, just a few mins walk from Bugis MRT. Friendly staff, and most of all it won't make your wallet cry.

No free wifi. You need to pay 4 SG$ for 2 hours use, good thing I bought a SIM which offers unlimited internet connection, which I used through out my trip in Singapore.

Nothing really. The place is quite affordable. The service is good. Thumbs up. :).
AC can't be adjusted directly; had to call the reception to get it set as per preference temp.

The room was not soundproof as I could hear people next door doing their business.

entrance at dark street, a bit scary when back to hotel late night.
The room balcony was dirty, not seen by the cleaning staff for many weeks, there were cigarettes buts, dirt etc. WIFI didn't work for our last two days, the a/c didn't work on our third night, bathroom too small and not lockable, its ok for a couple but definitely not others, need seperate shower, room safe is a must, baggage rack could be ideal.
Room is so small, claustrophobic people will find it a challenge. Also,
expect no windows and hotel entrance is at the back of the building thru
an alley (although there is a sign "85 beach Hotel" along the
main road). Aircon is difficult to control, and when one particular room
switches off the aircon, the whole floor loses all aircon (why they have
this electrical setup boggles the mind). Cellphone signal inside the
rooms is weak (I was on Globe idd Roaming thru singtel).
Needs a better clean and a freshen up - smells of stale smoke in room.
Thin walls and doors so you can hear people in corridor and They could hear you.
A/c would not switch off so room was freezing and not enough bedding to stay warm.

- No windows. The staff could have told us in advance (they say 'rooms with windows subject to availibility' but in reality only twin or deluxe rooms have windows.
- No access to room without reception. You wont be able to go to Level 3 or above without asking the staff at level 2 to grant you access to the above floors each and every time.
the room was too small... aircon was shutdown in the middle of your sleep... not comfortable bed and beedings.. not a soundproof wall you can hear the busy street..
The room that I had is next to the elevator, which is a bit noisy at a time and even though I seldom stay in room, still I prefer more channels for the television broadcast.
Air con was too cold. Rooms a bit small but well designed and can't really complain for the price.
Room size is not good.
Rooms are too small. Need to go to 2nd floor which is the hotel lobby to have the staffs buzzed us up to our floor. Turning on and off air condition has to be done via phone call to front desk, but front desk staffs are quite helpful.

There is AC but they don't give you the remote so you have to call reception for them to turn it off or down.

was the room 504. worse without Windows smell of damp walls covered with black fungus.
-Air conditioner- too cold! No information about how to adjust room temperature.
-NOT clean. There was somebody else's hair everywhere.
-The sink was broken.
-NO hot water.
-Shower and toilet were too close. There was no divider. Once I took shower, toilet was all wet.
-No comforter, only branket which does not look clean.
Need to remodel.
I strongly recommend to pay some more and stay nicer hotel.
The room was really small and the toilet is attached to the bedroom. When we first enter the room, it has a weird smell that makes you feel uncomfortable. The cleanliness was very poor since I can still find some hair in the bed sheet.
very bad hotel. i have to shift to another room due to i cant open the door from outside. the reason is they dont have a master key to open the door and the room is too cold. it is a central aircond. you cannot setting it from your remote control. alls are controlled by them.
