Great place to stay in Kyoto, especially if you don't want to spend
much. Perfect location, close to the central station and to a great
bicycle rental place. Getting anywhere from here is not a problem at
all. Familiar atmosphere and very Japanese, I really enjoyed to sleep
on the Tatami floor. Staff is extremely friendly and speaks very good
English, a big exception in Japan. I had my own bathroom in the single
room, just great. I also had an ac in the room, perfect for the hot

It's really simple but in a good way. I have read some bad comments
so I just wanted to clarify that there is towel , soap , hair dryer !!
We stayed there for 5nights and we really enjoyed our stay . It's
15min walk from kyoto station . I wasn't amazing but for the price I
would highly recommend it.
The lady running the place was lovely and had excellent English. The Gojo subway station was just around the corner too, making it very convenient.
I also liked how traditional the hotel was; tatami floors and futons are something everyone should experience when they come to Japan.

The staff were helpful and considerate. They made you feel at home. It has a down to earth Japanese vibe that we ( my children and myself) felt privilege to be a part of. The location is ideal, centred between Kyoto station and Down town.

The hostess.
Miki is a good host and very kind providong me An. Umbrella and an
electrical adaptor. It is a very basic hotel, squeezed in the middle of
a compacted neighborhood. It is clean and silent. Really only for budget
travel or those who want a single room with bathroom for a fra toon of
the price. 5 min walk from subway and 15 min walking from the station.
Local was ok, near to Higashi Hongan-Ji and Kyoto station, in a very small lane but just across a school so it was easy to find.
Japanise family inn, staff was very nice, speak English and help us with luggage(there is no elevator).
Location is extremely convenient being at the exact centre of the city and at walking distance from the station. Good value for money. Staff is super kind.

It's just one subway stop to Kyoto station, and has a few buses to the main tourist places.
It's quiet
It's in a small lane of local residence area, so it's very quiet.
I have no complaints my self. The room was bigger than I thought! Only
thing was I found a hair that was definitely not mine in the shower ;).
The hotel is ten mins from the station, but only if you know where you are going! I arrived at the exit on the opposite side of Kyoto station and walked all the way around to get to the hotel but you can walk through the station if you know how to.

The bathroom is a little too small, but there is a cheap and comfortable public bath nearby.

Strange smell. I believe it is cleaning product smell, but a bit strong.

Room was ok, only thing was quilt cover was not very clean, with hairs which were definitely not mine.
The place is getting old and it's time for a refurbishing. Common area is only about a small table and a bench for two.
Room maintainence and facilities is terrible.
If comparing to the rooms in Osaka and Tokyo with similar rate, the guest house's room is definitely not japanese standard. The room is very , wait , too basic...barely nothing...bathtub doesn't has stopper.(so no bath)...
The room doesn't get proper maintained, one or two corners of the wall broken...and dust inside the wall fell out....
