Located in the heart of downtown Kyoto, Aoi Kyoto Stay provides 6 non-smoking machiya Japanese townhouse accommodations in different locations. Guests at each townhouse can experience authentic lifestyle. Some houses were built about 100 years ago, and they have undergone renovations while preserving their original charm.
Featuring a Japanese garden and many antiques items, 2-storey Aoi townhouses offers free Wi-Fi within the property. They are fitted with a large flat-screen TV, a DVD player and a humidifier. A kitchenette comes with a fridge and a microwave. All the townhouses include a large en suite bathroom and free toiletries.
Breakfast meals with local vegetables and freshly baked bread can be delivered to the property at extra charge with a reservation made 3 days in advance. Alternatively guests can prepare their own meals in the kitchenette.

Absolute everything! We stayed in the Ayanokoji-bashi for our final night in Kyoto and the place was amazing. We turned up to leave our luggage at their office, but they ended up allowing us to check in at 11am. The whole house was really trendy and comfortable. After going for lunch and exploring Gion, we ended up returning and sitting on the couches, playing jazz records and just watching the leaves fall into the stream outside our window. The house and the "Kura" or old warehouse have been reformed
with taste. The surrounding of the house (japanese garden), the wooden
(cypres) bath, the whole of the facilities are amazing. You feel at home
but in the Japanese style. It is unforgettable. We will go again. Better
stay during the week than week-end (price) but it remains ideal to visit
Kyoto. We recommend at least 2 nights to really enjoy the house !.
We actually missed the extra '0' in the price, but it really
showed. The townhouse had an amazing fit out, it sat beside a slowly
moving stream lined with cherry blossoms. There is a traditionally
wooden bath and all the amenities you could need.
We both fell in love with Kyoto and I suspect this townhouse had an influence.
Central, however quiet location, close to Gion and Nishiki Foodmarket both only 10 mins walking away. Lot's of small restaurants directly around. Great, luxurious interior from 3D TV to Bose Stereo system, fridge, free water provided everyday...you get it everything is there. We would definitely stay there again.
Very unique taste in antique house renew designs: garden and outside view(besides the river),decorations, furnitures, antique porcelains. Modern facilities and comfortable beds.Free organic coffee is very tasty. Great japanese antique house experience.
The location was great, the staff were very, very helpful and the townhouse itself was beautifully designed. So often accommodation does not live up to the description or pictures on the internet. This accommodation surpassed expectations.

this is the best hotel I ever stayed in Japan. I love the place feel like home. But you need to know how to get there cuz there are many houses under them.

Location, Staff, Facilities.
My only fault is that their offices can be a little hard to find if you want to leave the luggage, but other than that, it was absolutely perfect.
It was all great, despite the extra 0 in the pricetag.
no lobby, no service during your stay. Must pay attention at the email AOI sent to you after booked. AOI has five totally different location apartments and one office.They you send to you the exact address of your booked. No curtain in Shinmachi，and if eyeshade is prepared, it will be perfect.
