Sansui Ryokan is a 7-minute walk from Peace Memorial Park. It offers homely Japanese-style rooms with a tea set and futon beds. Rental bicycles and hotel-wide free Wi-Fi are available. The air-conditioned rooms at Ryokan Sansui have tatami (woven-straw) floors and a traditional decor. Bathrooms and toilets are shared, and towels and Yukata robes are provided free of charge. Koamicho Station is just 70 metres from the hotel, and the Atomic Bomb Dome is a 15-minute walk. Hiroshima Castle is a 10-minute taxi ride away. Breakfast is available from Monday to Saturday.

The place was perfect for what we needed. Only a minute (or less) walk to a tram stop that would take you to both Hiroshima station and Miyajima station. It was only a 5 minute walk to the peace park, and a 10 minute walk to the main shopping district. The owner was the sweetest lady I have ever met and she seemed genuinely excited to have us there. She was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. I was traveling with my sister and our room was a perfect size for us - we only had.

She knows just enough English but is happy to speak Japanese if you want to practice-just the right balance. She made a good recommendation for a restaurant/ bar 3 minutes walk away, which does Italian/ Japanese food. An absolute bargain for the price-a very complete Japanese breakfast. Nice shower/bathroom, which you can lock to have. The lady owner of this ryoukan was lovely and very helpful to us and very accommodating despite the fact that we didn't opt to have breakfast as part of our stay. It is very much a small family ryoukan with an extremely low room rate. If you are looking for value for money then this is about as cheap as you will find in all of Japan and despite that the facilities and rooms were all very clean and had everything you needed. Free wifi was also available. Amazing location right near the peace park and some great food (especially a ramen place the staff recommended), the facilities were clean and the staff were super helpful (at one point running after us in the rain to return our dropped wallet - really lovely!). When you leave the staff even give you a copy of a photo of your party outside the ryokan!. The owner is very friendly, speaks perfect English and tells you exactly how to reach the main places in Hiroshima. It's really easy to go to the Peace Memorial (10 minutes walk) and to the center of the town (20 minutes walk) and you can go directly from the JR station using the tram number 2 that stops at 1 minute walk from this lovely ryokan. This Ryokan is operated by the friendliest woman in Japan! Our room was spotless. All of the peace park sites and good eating are within walking distance. Very quiet location on 50 metres from the river. The owner was friendly, welcoming & have good advice on the area (ie things to do & see and suggestions of where to eat) traditional style room/bedding with the tatami mats. Bath was nice. The owner of the Ryokan is very helpful and friendly. The room is big enough for two people and cleaner does cleaning work every day. It is comfortable and quiet place to live, very convenient. . The owner was very friendly and with broken English you get the idea of what she is saying. So lovely, she gave me a photo of my stay. Great location from the street car. Really nice little place. The women running it is lovely and can't do enough for you. My room was really sweet and I found the futon style sleeping pretty comfy. Nice small and simple ryokan. Good location, clean. It is cheap and near the peace memorial park. As other reviewers have said, the stairs are rather steep and narrow, but because I was aware of this before I got to the ryokan I didn't find it a problem. There is only one shower in the ryokan but as there are only 6 rooms it's not too much of a problem. There are three shower heads in the bathroom but I could only get one to give me hot water. This wasn't too much of a concern though as you only need one shower to work!!. Only 2 issues, really: 1. It feels more like a minshuku (Japanese B&B) not a ryokan (Japanese inn)-a bit too basic (no private toilet /wash facilities) but good for the price . 2. Very sweet lady owner but not for those who like their anonymity/privacy (photo taken of all guests at breakfast, to put on the wall-cute, amusing but a bit invasive & not for morning grumps, like me!). Nothing!. Room was a bit musty/dusty and quiet small. nothing really negtive at all. floor bed did get a little cold but I shaould have turned the heating on. The stairs are steep so pack light and take one bag up at a time. Steepest stairs in the world and the shower is downstairs so you have to deal with them first thing in the morning. That I had to pay 100yen to fill my water bottle. With that you can buy a new bottle each time. Reducing the price to 50yen should be fine. Front door is locked at midnight. Check-in starts at 3pm which was a bit inconvenient as I arrived in the morning. Site says 3 showers but doesn't say that these 3 showers are all in the one room. So there is only 1 shower room if you want a private shower. It is a bit dusty. Otherwise, it is ok.
