What a wonderful place to stay with so much History at your finger tips! The staff were all very helpful. We were given an upgrade at no extra cost. The breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. We opened the shutters in our room to see a superb view of the famous
sassi of Matera. The staff at reception went out of their way to help us
check the details of the next leg of our journey and the friendliness we
received left us with just a desire to return soon. The hotel is

Very hospitable hosts, very good accommodation across the street from their restaurant, where excellent breakfasts were served. It was a good experience to stay in the centre of Matera.

Rooms were nicely appointed, the hotel is walking distance from the beautiful historic town, the breakfast provided onsite was delicious and had a larger selection than is typical in this region. This hotel was like staying in another world from centuries past. It was
amazing each room situated in what seemed was stone cliffsides. The view
from both windows looked out on the ancient city. All sites were within
walking distance. The manager spoke English and gave many ideas with
walking map to find them. You don't have to be interested in Italian
history to thoroughly enjoy this hotel. Breakfast was wonderful with all

The location of Hotel Sassi is superb. The staff (Vivian and Sabrina) were very helpful and pleasant to talk to. They suggested a trip to a 8th Century Bizantyne Cave Church that we would never find ourselves, which was extra ordinary and unique. we stayed in room 301 which is a hike to get to (steps, steps), but well worth it. -

They did a fantastic job in renovating the place, fitting modern comforts in the trogloditic cave dewllings. Fantastic view on the cathedral from the balcony, very friendly and efficient staff.

The newly-reopened hotel is beautiful, some very nice design touches that make the rooms very special. The reception an hospitality is excellent, and very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was lavish and tasty. -
