the staff were very friendly and accomodating. In fact they couldn't do enough for us - lending us bikes, and generally doing all they could to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
Although the location was just outside he walls of the old city, it was close enough for walking and cycling. It was also within easy walking distance of the station

I booked a room in Castello di Mammoli, but reception is located in Hotel Villa Volpi, where asked us if we want to stay in Hotel Villa Volpi instead in Castello di Mammoli, because they have free room.
Hotel Villa Volpi is amazing and if Castello di Mammoli is half that good I recommed it to everyone. The view over the valley is extremely beauti

The surroundings were absolutely beautiful. Large warm pool in a big, lush garden setting. Option to eat outdoors at each meal which we did. The room was a good size, excellent bed and the bathroom was modern with a nice bath. The oublic areas, bar and lounges were inviting and the staff were vey attentive. Overall it was fantastic.

The lovely villa is set in the peaceful countryside,the only sound you hear at night is the clock town from the nearby village church. The owners are friendly and courteous and always willing to help with directions and any other questions you may have. Romantic room with high ceilings and a nice view and lovely garden for sitting outside. Staff spoke excellent English and was friendly and helpful. Very short drive to the city of Lucca, good strong coffee for breakfast. WLAN available. Excellent local restaurant 3 minutes away (Il Borghetto del Castello).
