Bordering the regions of Umbria and Tuscany, this ancient Cistercian monastery has been renovated into a country resort set in a lush and rural area surrounding the city of Amelia.
Located between Orvieto, Spoleto and Perugia, the hotel is immersed in both history and nature. Offering 16 finely decorated and equipped apartments, the hotel also provides cosy and refined common areas such as the wine-bar and the Sala del Mose which features a billiard table and fire-place. In addition to this, there is a swimming-pool with water massage area and botanic garden. In the garden you will find traditional and officinal plants typical to the ones once planted by the Cistercian Monks.
Business services such as fax, photocopies and internet connection are available on request at the reception.

Being out of the city. We enjoyed the apartment we were put up in, but never got to see the regular rooms which we thought we scheduled for. It was in a nice area, close enough to different areas we wanted to visit. The dining room and food they served were wonderful. Staff was gracious and the person running the kitchen was very helpful to us.Not having reservations when we arrived after a 9 hour ride from Venice. They had no schedule of our visit. The personal restaurant of the country resort, Il Giardino dei Semplici, with inner and outside rooms, offers tasty cuisine in line with Umbrian and national cooking traditions, accompanied by a well-provided wine-cellar.
Information about the area
Amelia is probably the most ancient town of Umbria and according to the legend was founded in the 12th-century B.C by King Ameroe. The mighty polygonal walls, which date back to the 6th-century and the 4th-century B.C, testify the power and the strategic importance of this town on the Amerina Road.
Later Amelia became a Roman Municipium and enjoyed this privileged status for many centuries. The territories of Orvieto and Amelia are united by the so-called Etruscan-Roman Road of Wines, which connects the most ancient wine lands of Umbria.

Most of the accommodations overlook the impressive private park and have a breath-taking view of the swimming pool and of the Giardino dei Semplici, a maze of fragrant spices and medicinal herbs.
