I really enjoyed my stay at the Alfholl Gueshouse. The owner Kristjan is very nice and follows up with you to find out what time your flight arrives/leaves to makes sure everything is in order. We stayed in the Vatnsstigur 11 building, which is perfectly located just off the main street Laugevegur - close to everything, but not disturbed by nightlife at all. The hotel is a small lovely house near the downtown of Reykjavik. There

We checked in really late which was not a problem. we we dead tired and found the most comfortable beds I have ever had in a hotel.
The pace was peaceful and quiet, which was great since we were traveling with our 2 young children, 3 years old and 2 months old.
Breakfast the next morning was very nice.

The exterior is deceivingly run-down. Rooms and bathrooms are super
clean, comfy, and roomy! The shared-bathroom thing is not a big deal
since there's one bathroom per floor, and not many rooms per floor.
