He may have sparked a new friendship/colleague :) I would recommend Adam's Hotel.

  Very good location to the centre of the city - Acropolis and all other sights which you need to visit. It's easy to get to the hotel from the airport - you just need to get X95 bus and get the latest station, whole jorney will take about 45 minutes and 5 euro. Breakfast room with the view was not exaggerated, it is awesome. Perfect, and we had great weather so were able to sit outside.
