  Billy, hotel manager, was an excellent help to all our inquiries. He is accommodating and assisted us when our itinerary changed abruptly.   Mike at the desk is a star. His English isn't brilliant but he will do anything to try and help, whether it be finding a phone adaptor, or guiding you to the best fish restaurants (and they're all pretty good around Danaos-very local). They let me check in early and because it was towards the end of the season they upgraded my room from a double to a quadrouple. You can book excursions around crete through the hotel. I booked a hike to Samaria Gorge, the old man at reception woke up and made me breakfast before the hike. It's also right on the town beach and 10 minute walk to the old part of Chania.

  This is a delightful old hotel run by 2 octogenarian sisters who were born in it before it was expanded into a hotel. It was once an Austrian consulate and also a command center for the Nazis in World War II. The location is ideal on the coastal road northeast of town in the Halapa district. The substantial buffet breakfast takes place on the top floor with beautiful sea views. The room was clean - Doma is the kind of hotel where you can imagine your great-grandparents staying on their honeymoon. But don't be mistaken: despite its appearances the hotel is absolutely contemporary with a modern bathroom, flatscreen TVs, silent air-conditioners and free wifi in the lobby (spoilt travelers may want to have wifi in their room, though).   The family running the hotel -- all 3 generations!-- Are incredibly welcoming and made us feel quite at home. Not only by offering us fresh fruit and raki on arrival and carrying our baggage up the narrow staircase but also by their overall cordiality. We stayed there twice and thus saw 2 of the 6 rooms, and we especially recommend the balcony top floor one -- you h - I was impressed with the hospitality and friendliness of our staff.   Clean, modern room with a sea view from balcony. The buffet breakfast was ample and we were able to enjoy breakfast outside.
