We liked the location of the hotel in the picturesque village of Grainau, and also the traditional chalet design. Our spacious room with balcony looked out at the Zugspitze which was spectacular. Breakfasts were excellent as was our evening meals. -

The hotel can be reached via the Zugspitzebahn, bus or taxi from the Garmisch train station. This is a lovely place, although next time we would get a room with the water view and stay longer. The hotel is located in a beautiful spot, below the highest mountain in Germany. It was used by the US military at the end of WWII. In addition to the lake, there is an indoor swimming pool.
We would like to return here for a family reunion as there are enough activities in the area for all ages.
