  Very charming chateau outside of Onzain. The chateau keepers could not have been kinder or more accommodating. Our French was not strong at all, and they very kindly helped translate a menu for us at a very nice restaurant they recommended in the neighboring town to celebrate our anniversary. They also called the restaurant to make the reservation... τι λέει ο κόσμος » for us. They spoke fluent English which was incredibly helpful. The view from our 2nd floor room was truly spectacular! And the breakfast they offere - I loved the Hotel. Very nice staff and very relaxing place conveniently located next to the most famous Loire Castles. I will go back. A great find! The Loire castles are beautiful and visiting them is a pleasure. I stayed 3 days but I could have stayed a week. So much to see. Do not forget to visit the caves and do some wine tasting.

  It is hard to imagine a more charming place to stay in the Loire than Les Douves. Once a grand chateau occupied the small island, with its 360 degree moat, on which the current “manor” style building sits. Family owned and operated, Les Douves has only one guest accommodation. A suite consisting of a large bedroom and sitting room, two other salons, a - A beautiful place owned by a really nice couple. We enjoyed the Gresse couple hospitality and the spacious and tastefully decorated suite. The place is ideal for families: the suite accommodates a family of five comfortably and the yard is full of fun. The Gresse kids are very friendly and were eager to show my kids all the animals: swans & ducks in the moat, chickens & rabbits in the yard, and then climbed with them to the tree house and picked apples right from the tree. A real treat

Traditional, very well maintained and decorated with great taste. Our superior room was very spacious, overlooking the garden, and the bathroom was modern. Breakfast is very complete. We really enjoyed the heated outdoor pool, excellent for spending the afternoon. Overall a great base for visiting the Loire Valley.

Good restaurant, use of local ingredients. Breakfasts and the evening meal served in the dining room were excellent. The staff was helpful, considerate and responsive. We would stay there again.

  Everything! The owners were lovely and made us feel very welcome. They were very accommodating to our needs. The 'apartment' was perfect with 2 bedrooms, a little lounge, full kitchen with table to sit at. The food downstairs at the restaurant was lovely traditional but refined french food - and amazing value for what you got. It is clean and very pleasant. I loved the reach with books library and the relaxed sofa in the sitting room. Located in the center of all the famous castles, it is the perfect base for excursions. The owner, Mme Sichi is friendly and always eager to assist. She runs a gourmet restaurant just underneath, with unbelievable tastes! I fully suggest it !
