Situated on a WW1 battle field, Château de Couin is a beautiful, restored 18th-century chateau that is now a B&B surrounded by a 6-hectare park. It offers rooms and suites with views of the garden and a daily breakfast service of local and regional products. All of the accommodation is en suite, with some rooms equipped with a bathtub. Some rooms also have a fireplace and free Wi-Fi. Regional and local cuisine is served in the chateau’s dining room upon advance request. A free snack is offered between 17:00 and 19:00 and there is also a bar open for an evening aperitif or an after-dinner drink. The owners of Château de Couin offer guided tours of the chateau, which is listed as a historical monument.

A building trapped in time, with a host of history from the late 17th century to the present day. We chose it for its connection to WW1 and it's occupation by the British Army as a use for a hospital. The owners are wonderful people with a deep knowledge of the Chateau and its history, taking the time to give us a detailed tour of the buildings and rooms not normally open to the public. A very nostalgic stay and an absolute pleasure. Made our stay in France and the tours around the WW1 sites ve.

The concise portrail of the History of the Chateau and outbuildings from the initial build and through the Wars as relayed by the Hosts Fabiance and Veronic was fascinating and quite emotional - seeing the accommodation areas of the Medics in WW1 above th. We loved the warm welcome we received from the owners Veronique, Fabrice and their daughter Charlotte. The informative tours of the magnificent Chateau and its grounds were also excellent! The tour of the stables was particularly interesting to us as we had come to this part of France to visit ww1 memorials and the history here was amazing. The wifi was very good and we enjoyed the home-cooked meal we had at the Chateau the one night. The apartment we stayed in was spacious, private and quiet -. Chateau de Couin is an authentic Chateau in the French countryside which is beening restored by the current owners to it's original condition. The facilities are clean and modern and the hospitality of the owners is first class. We were given a full tour of the property and were able to appreciate the passion the owners have for the property and its restoration. If you want an authentic French Chateau experience with fascinating history in a tranquil setting, then this is the place to come. Veronique was ever helpful and charming and a mine of fascinating information on the history of the Chateau. My bedroom was perfect and being able to lounge in the main Drawing Rooms of the Chateau on an evening was magical. One of the best places I have ever stayed! The owners were friendly, and provided a good amount of information on the Chateaux and surrounding areas. HUGE breakfast. Bedroom was stunning, and very comfortable, with a view of fields and a horse! On the go-back-to list. A step back in time. Living in the home of a 18 century aristocrat. Excellent attention to detail and authentic décor, furniture, etc. A very unique and special experience. Veronique is a charming host and informative guide to the history of the Chateau. Prepare to expect the unexpected. The Chateau is a historical work in progress. It is quirky - comparing the restored/unrestored areas. The owners were very welcoming and friendly. French Chateau and its history....ambiance was fabulous......owners wonderful and helpful. The rich history of the chateau, the beauty of the environment, the charm of the owners. Fantastic historic building. Superb interior decor. Excellent hostess. Unique. The history of the Chateau is amazing and it is so peaceful and beautiful. Amazing place and a very warm welcome - we WILL be back !!! :-)). The Chateau is a family home not a hotel in the process of being restored. anyone interested in the history and restoration of this building will love it but there are no facilities for food and the nearest restaurant is about 10-15 minutes away. Wonderful Building, passionate owners, beautiful & quiet location but isolated from facilities to dine. Beautiful and historic. An experience. Leaving. Although the breakfast was good, it could have been improved with the addition of some fresh fruit salad and perhaps some ham and cheese or eggs. Not everyone wants bread each day for breakfast no matter how good it is. The chateau is remote where the village of Couin does not have any shops or restaurants within walking distance. Having said this the owners are happy to provide dinner if prior arrangements are made. It is slightly out of the way but in some ways that added to its appeal. Leaving. Difficult to find without a gsp. No restaurant but our host arranged a taxi into town. We arrived late Monday at approx 5 to 6pm and checked in and then drove 20 to 30 klms and could not find anywhere open for dinner. If you arrive late I suggest you have something with you for dinner. A little remote. better signage. There was nothing we didn't like. Accommodation very basic, breakfast poor, repeated cold coffee. A long way from something to eat when dinner is not provided.
