  yself and my husband and another couple stayed 1 night and chose this hotel due to the location - close to seascale but the location was beautiful the bar was a typical country inn type, the staff friendly, food was good & the Kamikazi real ale went down well. The room was small but clean and comfortable and good value for the price we paid. T... was die leute sagen » here was a large TeePee in the beautiful gardens in preparation for a wedding. We love Country Villages we would definitely stay again. - We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

  Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to town, within walking distance. Accommodation warm, comfortable and all facilities one would expect. Food not exceptional but tasty and well cooked. All in all a pleasant stay and hope to return one day. - Decor is a little dated but it adds to the ambiance!   I thought everything about the hotel was good. It was quiet and the room was spacious clean and had all the facilities required for a pleasant stay. Breakfast similarly provided all that was required to start a day. A good choice of cereal, cooked food or cold food if preferred with a range of drinks to suit all. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and always on hand to provide guidance and advice. - Really enjoyed stay as base for visiting family in Cumbria. We were able to bring our two dogs rather than leave at home for small price per night. This was fabulous for us and a surprise as not realised when booked. Also free car park a real bonus for location and so convienient. Great shower in bathroom and as good as you get anywhere. All in all enjoyed 3 night stay with location short distance to walk to castle and park for dogs.Would recommend for budget conscious comfortable accommodation

  Room was large, clean, very light with big windows, really nice! We were made very welcome by all staff. We took our large dog which was also really welcomed and she could go anywhere including the bar, other than the restaurant.   Friendly welcome and all staff we met were courteous and helpful at all times. The hotel location is fantastic with a short 10 minute walk into Grasmere. The grounds are spectacular with herdwick sheep in the field in front, deer in the woods and visiting badgers. The sound of owls at night and watching the badgers feeding was definately a highlig... was die leute sagen » ht. Open fires on our last night when the temperature had dropped were also a bonus. Breakfasts were delicious and as vegetarian guests we had a varie - Friendly Staff helped enormously with my hectic schedules during my stay, very early starts and late returns also arranging for safe over-night parking of vehicle, they really couldn't have done more to meet my requirements. The food was excellent, cooked to perfection, hot and presented well. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable, all this and at a very affordable price.
