  Friendly owners who make you feel like you are welcome into their home and who greeted us like old friends, remembering us from a single short visit we had made last summer. All the staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere in Fairfield House is relaxed and cosy, and the garden is full of birdsong. Walk below into the quaint village of Bowness. We loved having the excellent breakfasts and heading straight out behind the house for hill walks with tremendous views over Windermere. Extremely comfortable, clean room and all necessary facilities. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Would happily stay again and definitely recommend.

  We stayed at the Bay House some 12 months ago and enjoyed the location and we they decided to back this week. The place is now under new management who have only been in for 2 months or so, but are making a very good go of the place. We enjoyed our weekend as the Bay House Lake View Guest House is central to everything, pubs, shops, lake and roads... was die leute sagen » in and out of Bowness........Loved every minute of our stay - Maxine & Graham the new owners are very welcoming and eager to please, nothing is too much trouble. Comfortable room, very good choice of breakfast and homemade cake in the room every day which was wonderful bonus! Issued with a car park pass so no worries about parking. Easy walking distance to the amenities of Bowness but quiet at night, the location is excellent.

  Just returned from a two night stay in the 4 poster bedroom, everything was perfect, the house and our room had so much charm and character, our room was large but cosy, the bathroom was just as big, it was perfect. The breakfast was top notch, friendly owners, very clean and tidy, it had everything we needed and more, if there is any thing you ha... was die leute sagen » ve forgot it will be in your room. 2 minutes walk down the lane to the little village where you will find a beautiful church, 4 pubs, co-op. Beautiful - Classic Lake district countryside setting. Access to picturesque, easy, 3 mile walk to Conistion Lake through fields and woods. 3 minute walk to beautiful Hawkshead village or 5 minutes through the back of the 14th century church yard. The B&B has a back garden with tables and chairs for an evening glass of wine. Each room has a Fabulous hot shower with pressure that no other English shower system could boast. Great breakfast. Great all round value.

  We stayed at the Hare & Hounds for three nights and had a wonderful time there. We booked the standard room which although small was very cosy, well equipped and had a great en-suite ( really good size with a very powerful shower). Kerry is an excellent host - nothing's too much trouble.

This was a great holiday and a great place to stay - A spotlessly clean family run B&B, with lovely owners and staff, right in the centre of Ambleside. I can't wait to visit again. Extreemly comfy beds and an amazing choice for breakfast. (Try the bacon, it is the best I've tasted in many years!) I've stayed in Ambleside before on many occasions, but this was my first time at Wordsworth's. I'm glad I found it!

The location was ideal for walking in the town of Ambleside and to get a boat ride to the other locations such as bowness. Parking arou - The spotless room, it was ever so comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious! Plenty of choice. Ola and Peter were exceptionally friendly and cheerful and really made you feel welcome. Loved the complimentary bottle of water and biscuits that we received in our room on both days we stayed. Location is great, it is in walking distance of all the shops in Ambleside. We did a lovely walk to Grasmere while we stayed there. In the welcome book there's lots of suggested walks that you can do,
