The entertainment in the lounge on the saturday night was brilliant and the locals were great. - Lovely quiet rural location, next to the Meeting of the Waters at Avoca. The B&B is directly above a pub, which did very nice bar food and was an ideal spot for our evening meal. The twin room was very comfortable and clean and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The cooked Irish breakfast was delicious and the breakfast room has amazing views out over the waters which really are idyllic.

They gave us great recommendations especially for a wonderful restaurant in Rathdrum: Bates. They - Great location 100 yards from the Meeting of The Waters, 200 yards from nearest pub, "The Meetings" (which appears to have a new chef, as we had two very enjoyable small meals there). Roughly four miles from towns of Avoca, and Rathdrum in the opposite direction (had a very enjoyable meal there in Bates Restaurant). Some great walks in the area if you are into that. Both Catriona and Shane in Ashtown House made us feel very welcome (offered us tea when we arrived with a gorgeous banana cake!) H

Rose and Brendan, the hosts for 27 years, are amicable, helpful, and delightful. On our last day, Rose even phoned our next B&B for information on best access to the sights we wanted to see from their location.
