  Handy location for shopping and being near a larger supermarket, with the kitchnette, we could prepare meals in the room rather than eat out each night. Rooms were reasonable - nothing flash but definitely value for money. Free internet was awesome and not included in many other places we checked out. Close to decent restaurants which were less touristy because the hotel is away from the main areas. - Room was clean and had partial view out to the water. Price was reasonable.   The location cannot be beat close to the beaches market and shops. It was like living in a botanical garden beautiful plants flowers and amazing pool. Walking down the pathway from the lobby to the beach was like walking thru a sweet little jungle ... I loved it! The Kona Islander Inn is like a gem in the middle of town.   we were originally concerned about previous reviews of no air conditioning and noisy roosters. the only night that was uncomfortable was the first nite. we cranked up the fans and made sure everything was open and it was fine after that.
