Chic Look and Feel Nice looking rooms Excellent library bar

Advertised a pool and terrace, but it was closed with no warning.

Gorgeous decor in the colonial style but new & with a great rooftop pool. Friendly helpful staff - we arrived at 10am after flying from Europe & they quickly prepared our room so we were checked in at 11am instead of 2pm. A quiet haven. Excellent food & service. Best hotel we've stayed in during 6 months travel

Very antique style, back to the 1920s with many stylish decor. good for people who love photoshooting. The swimming pool on the roof is a plus to such heritage building.

The building itself is heritage; pipes from bathroom are not up to today's standard resulting in some odours. Rooms are not sound proof.

The rating I gave is based on my personal experience. Had a stop-over in Bangkok for 4 days from London for a total chill-out, decided to stay at the Cabochon for the duration. I have been to BKK many times, one of the reasons I chose this hotel was the roof top pool which I thought I would use quite a lot for chilling. On the 3rd day of stay, woke up by lots of building work noise around 9am. Didn’t think of anything. Went up to use the pool at 11am and found a bomb site! They started doing renovation work on all the decking, the pool area was unusable for guests. I was surprised to found the pool in such a state, I contacted the front desk which, the manager informed me that it would take 4-5 days for the renovation work to complete. This was perfectly ok if they had let me know prior of confirmation of booking that the pool area would or might not be available for use, so I could book somewhere else. Verbal apology was offered and that was that. On the day of departure, I was told that if I had stayed at the hotel for dinner the night before, that would be complimentary, but I was told the morning after! I was then offer a complimentary lunch but I had a plane to catch! I had dinned in their restaurant and had lunch also, could the manager took that off the bill instead? NO, is the answer. The communication with guest is terrible in this occasion, and I am afraid to say that my stay was a disappointment. On a plus side, the hotel is in a convenient location and it is in a lovely building with tasteful decor, the pool is beautiful when it is functioning. Staff are generally smiley and polite. I would still recommend this hotel.

Poor Communication. When problem arises, management shows lack of experience in dealing with issues promptly and satisfactory.
