  Generator was a great place to stay in Venice. Even though it is on Giudecca, there is a vaporetto stop near the hostel and getting to St. Mark's Square is quick and easy. Staff were generally helpful and made a special effort to help us locate a lost piece of luggage at the airport. Certainly better than your average budget hostel. - They helped me to charge my phone when my cable got broken. Very comfortable beds with lights that don't disturb others. Quite cheap, good breakfast for additional price. It was a half-populated 16 person dorm, but it was comfortable to stay there. It is on a separate island from the city center, but public transport is working all the night so it's not a problem.

Room was a great size, with instantly hot shower - have heard that in Venice you can get both a small room and bad water pressure but no issues on this side. Staff very helpful, we got to check in early as the room was ready and they kept our bags safe on the last day until late at night. Also ate in the restaurant which was good food, staff here more than helpful as the terrace flooded during high tide and they piggy back

  This is a renovated abbey in the countryside about 45min from Venice. Very charming, family run place with large, comfortable, and clean rooms. No ac, but quiet so we could keep the windows open.   We were positively surprised how the staff is friendly and make all guests feel like in their own home. Trip will take 20 minutes and than you will have to walk for 15 minutes (or make an appointment with the hotel for a free shuttle service! The walk is nice so we didn't use this service). - Don't expect luxury, just a place to sleep!
