The Georgian House - Bilder
Vad folk säger
As soon as we drew up at the front door we knew we had chosen wisely.
The warm welcome from Gordon, the location - close to the university
made the Georgian House a perfect place to stay. The accommodation was
roomy with a very comfortable bed and lashings of hot water. We had a
most comfortable nights sleep and woke refreshed and ready for our
breakfast. The continental breakfast was excellent and served in a
beautiful airy dinning room. I would recommend this hotel to everyone
but particularl. alla recensioner »
What amazing and excellent value for money. Received a lovely warm and
friendly welcome. Great west end location. The bed linen was freshly
laundered (smelled lovely!) and we both had a great night's sleep in
a very comfortable bed - best sleep for ages. Good powerful shower with
plenty hot water. Continental breakfast was also excellent with lots of
choice - have developed a taste for waffles since my stay!
If the owners were to invest a little in upgrading some elements, they could have a fab.
I stay in a lot of low cost Hotels in Glasgow and The Georgian House,
exceeded my expectations in every way. It is in a league of its own in
terms of value for money, location, and cleanliness. It is expertly run
by Gordon, the Manager who combines a warm welcome with a complete
encyclopedic knowlege of Glasgow generally and the local attractions
specifically. Kitchen facilities, including use of the fridge is all
available, along with private parking at no extra charge. My room was
immaculate,.
I loved the charm and warmth from the moment you walked in....Gold baroque mirrors and a quiet elegant charm that feels unlike any other lower cost hotel Ive ever stayed in.It has a presence and atmosphere of a boutique hotel from the moment you arrive.Fresh flowers on the breakfast tables.Beautiful symmetry from the gold framed mirrors and paintings to the big period lamps and tartan carpets. And the charming welcoming host ......who runs the house like his own. A beautiful find I will use and.
The guest house is situated in an ideal position from which to explore
the city and, being close to the Botanic Gardens, equally allows
visitors to escape from the hubbub if desired. The rooms are comfortable
but beginning to look a little tired - decor needs to be refreshed and
some of the bathroom fittings in particular need to be replaced. That
said, the guest house provides good value for money and the care and
attention provided by the manager (Gordon) more than makes up for any
inadequaci.
The temporary manager kindly waited for my late (11pm) arrival (delayed by 5 hours because of train problems).
The location was convenient for me (visiting relations in the area). The Botanic Gardens over the road were pleasant for walks. Shops and eating places were nearby.
Breakfast offered adequate options.
Although located next to a main road, noise was minimal.
Gordon (our host) has been the most welcoming and friendly, joyful and
willing to offer good suggestions and supply for all our needs. The
hotel locar«tions was a very good asset; its decoration took us to
another time; and its comfort was quite agreable after a walk under
snowy weather and freezing wind along the city.
- The guy who checked us in (sorry, didn't catch his name) was very
friendly. When my friend lost her glasses at the University, he took
it upon himself to call the guard house to ask for us.
- Central location - walking distance to restaurants and bars
- Budget friendly and VERY clean!.
Lovely greeting on arrival, lovely big room- room one- , characterful,
clean and comfy, fantastic location opposite Oran Mor venue, at top of
Byres Road. Lovely continental breakfast, lots of choices. Fantastic
value for money and much better than a cheap 'chain' hotel room.
A great Location, spent a time in botanic gardens next door on a nice hot day a good Tea room there. Plenty Shops and Restaurants near by..Enjoyed our stay slept really well. Enjoyed our breakfast, Had a good Crack with Gordon the Manager,He made our stay memorable.
Friendly welcome waiting for us, he came straight out to tell us where
to park as soon as we arrived. Lots of information and a map, nothing
too much trouble. Room was clean and comfortable and quiet. All in all a
very pleasant stay, would definitely return.
Friendly yet courteous welcome, clean and comfortable. No trouble spared in making guests feel at home yet private and eminently suitable for business needs or a romantic weekend. Very conveniently placed for city business, shopping or sightseeing.
Our room, at the back, was excellent. It was warm, quiet, had lovely views of the Botanical gardens and provided all we needed. Breakfast was great with a variety of foods on offer, all fresh and a cafetiere for fresh coffee. Super value.
The hotel upgrade our twin room to a family one which is really spacious and comfortable. The bed is really British characterized and the location is super just opposite to the botanic garden. You can go anywhere easy from the hotel.
Great hotel. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and provided plenty of recommendations about where to eat and what to see nearby. Shame I didn't have time to really see much of Glasgow as I was only staying for the one night.
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Gordon was a gem with anything we needed or any information about the city. As it was our first time to glasgow he pointed out many things to our interest. 5stars for Gordon!.
The hotel is well situated in the West End. It is clean and comfortable, with a very friendly manager. The continental breakfast had a comprehensive choice of food-far more choice than we would have expected for the price.
We had an absolutely glorious few days weather wise, our room was very
comfortable with friendly staff and lovely cat. The Georgian House is
in an ideal location for exploring the beautiful and interesting city
of Glasgow.
Gordon who runs this b&b was really friendly and welcoming, room was comfy and clean. Looking out onto great western rd from my room at night made me feel like I was in an Avril Paton painting. Will stay here again.
This budget Hotel continues to set the standard in top quality, friendly, helpful staff. The attention to detail and the professional manner of Gordon the Manager, is what makes this ordinary hotel.... extraordinary !.
Helpful friendly knowledgeable manager.
Old style building but clean rooms.
Plenty of breakfast to choose from.
Easy reach of many things to see and do. Also kitchen facilities to use if we wanted at no extra cost.
The staff member was so warm and welcoming. The room was very in keeping
with the Georgian House, very stations and self catering was an added
bonus. Great location, great price, this is a hidden gem!.
Great value for money. The male member of staff who we dealt with was very friendly, chatty, and informative about the local area. He could not have been more welcoming. Also great value for money.
Great location
Friendly and prompt staff
Car park
Traditional old stone fronted Scottish building - great hall entrance
Price
Huge rooms and high cielings. Coving and wood finished window shutters.
Without doubt, the most friendly and welcoming reception I have ever received! The most charming manager - who even went to the trouble to find me at work on the Sunday to return an item to me!.
Gordon and his gorgeous cat, Smokey made us incredibly welcome. The location is perfect and We cannot add any more to the glowing review from Denis from Letterkenny above. I would give it 9.5.
very friendly welcome and the host made sure heating was working and tea/coffee were in good supply. Comfy bed, wonderful original staircase and very near University and West End shops.
The customer service was superb. The view from my window to the botanic gardens was lovely. My room was large and spacious with everything I needed supplied for a really good price.
Fantastic location and really good value for money. The manager was friendly and extremely helpful. Really big rooms. Perfect for our one night stay to enjoy the West End festival.
Management was very friendly, accomodating and welcoming. Some rooms were very spacious and warm. offstreet parking was very convenient and the location was perfect for our needs.
Excellent location - west end shopping and access to SECC, other attractions and eating out with good access into city centre too. Good all rounder. Lovely staff, very helpful....
very clean and well organized, with free parking and it was in a very good location for us,as it was 15 min from Celtic stadium. Near by there are many restaurants and pubs.
We love the Georgian but mostly because of Gordon, the manager. He is so
informative, accomdating and friendly. . .they are lucky to have him
running this B&B.
Excellent reception service
Super room size and quality
Spotless
Great location
Very helpful
Nothing wrong here
I recommend this hotel, I never recommend anywhere!.
Lovely friendly staff. Made to feel very welcome. Lovely room and very relaxed atmoshphere. Would def. go back. Opposite botanical gdns. which was lovely.
We arrived to find there had been a problem with the boiler in the allocated room but friendly staff resolved the problem quickly and satisfactorily.
Large rooms and bathroom.
Free car parking.
The manager we met were very enthusiastic.
The sightseeing tour bus stops literally around the corner.
A very welcoming and comfortble hotel.
We had our seven year old grandson, who lives locally, join us for breakfast, and he was made most welcome.
I liked the fantastic location with a view of the Botanic Gardens. The hotel was clean and the staff very helpful . Would definately stay again.
The location couldn't have been better, the staff were really friendly. The room was a good size and we didn't feel at all cramped.
Amazing value for money and located directly across the street from the Botanic Gardens and Byers Road.
Free parking on site.
Not far from two subway stations and a bus stop to city center and the central station. Amazing old building, WiFi, TV.
Gordon was so friendly and helpful. Homely feel. Comfortable beds and powerful, hot shower. Thanks for a great break.
The whole place was clean, the facilities, location and price good and the manager was both efficient and friendly.
Gordon excellent - really top notch
great city links
fantastic price
Would absolutely recommend to anybody.
good location, onsite parking, pleasant outlook over botanic gardens, light airy room (studio apartment).
We had a really friendly welcome. The room was comfy and quiet. We would defenetly stay here again!.
Friendly welcome, great west end location, lovely Georgian decor,
beautiful cat, comfortable rooms.
The room and ensuite were very roomy and comfortable.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Gordon the Manager was excellent, so friendly and helpful and the
private parking was a godsend.
There was nothing we didn't like. The bathroom was a little shabby,
I.E. vinyl lifting slightly and wallpaper coming away from wall but it
didn't impact at all on our on our stay or overall impression and
was perfectly clean. My view was that if the owners just invested a
little in upgrading some elements, they could have a fabulous boutique
hotel and charge 3 times what they do now. They have a killer location
with a fabulous manager and should make the most of it.
Absolutely nothing to fault.
Cant fault it...though I couldnt seem to connect to the wifi connection. But it may have been my own phone. And it wasnt a major point since their are plenty of hotspots in the cafes nearby.
The Great Western Road is a busy artery through the city and can be
noisy. The guest house is in the heart of a vibrant area for students,
which again can be noisy, but does mean that the area is very safe after
dark. Where shutters don't close properly, curtains need to have
blackout linings to reduce the ambient light.
The hotel would highly benefit with some refurbishing, specially as far
as the bathroom floor is concerned (the ruined linoleum leaves at sight
the floor wooden boards; not pretty, to be honest).
Kettle was missing from room but we didn't bother to report it. I
feel confident they would have sorted it but we were not too bothered.
We found the car park a bit of a squeeze, got in okay but reversing out was akward.but worth it being free.A lovely building neading some decorating and new bathrooms.
Nothing.
My sister in law's room, at the front, was a bit cold and a little noisy.
the breakfast is a little poor.
Nothing. This was a thoroughly pleasing visit!.
No negative aspects.
Fresh croissants for breakfast would be nice and we didn't
like being rushed out of the breakfast room at 9.45am! Otherwise
all was good.
Breakfast pretty basic, but was fine to get me up and on my way.
Nothing.
Chaise lounge broken and should either be removed or fixed for use.
Too hot at night so despite comfortable bed not ideal for good night sleep.
Part of the bedroom door overlaps the lobby doorway so a bit tricky to get in and out sometimes if they're both needing to be open.
Minor details, like the grouting around the bathroom sink needed replacing.
Absolutely nothing. Would stay here again in a flash!.
it is on a main road but traffic noise wasn't too bad particularly with the shutters in place.
N/A.
The bathroom in our room could do with a bit of an upgrade but otherwise everything was great.
Breakfast was very limited and of a low standard. Bedroom at the top was cold. General decor is looking tired and would benefit from overall upgrade.
Only nitpicking but decor bit old and wouldn't necessarily fancy doing breakfast when full (we were there with kids though).
They dont have a traditional Scottish breakfast. . . unfortunately the
manager is a one-man show and completely overworked. The owner should
hire an assistant and spend a little money on new mattresses and some
renovation.
Noise from traffic, early morning and shouting from people in the street at 4am.
If your room window looks to the main road it can be noisy.
The check in time of 4pm was late and also the check, out time was early. It meant that I was stuck with my suitcase and unable to leave it at the hotel after check out.
The double bed was quite uncomfortable.
Nothing. We couldn't believe how great this was.
Little choices of the breakfast. Heat goes off around 11pm (not too bad if you went to bed already).
Nothing to add here.
no negatives whatsoever.
bed bit creaky, slightly lumpy mattress, poorly/minimally equipped for self catering, floor actually sloped to one side, table unsteady - all in all a bit worn.
Breakfast was a bit simple.
Breakfast could do with some more fresh produce E.G. fresh Croissants
and didn't appreciate being told to leave the breakfast room at
10.45 sharp! Otherwise all was fine.
Parking was a little difficult, but was all sorted out.
It could be a little noisy late at night.
