  An amazing boutique hotel located in the high hills above Knysna. A car is essential given the intimidating walk! The main building which is more than one hundred years old is a converted family house hence the very cosy atmosphere. Our room was perfectly decorated with amazing views over the lagoon. The bathroom was very spacious. The variety and quality of the breakfast buffet was excellent. The hosts and the staff were extermely friendly and helpful. The hotel has large and beautiful garden. We can highly recommend this hotel.

  The reception on our arrival was friendly and helpful. Over the last four years we have stayed at several B&Bs, Hotels/Guest Houses in South Africa and the De Hoek rates as one of our best and most enjoyable places. The room was clean and comfortable, well furnished and with a superb bathroom. It had good air conditioning, tv and WiFi. Breakfa... vad folk säger » sts were cooked to order, were delicious and generous and little touches of fresh herbs or roses as table decorations showed how much care went into l - The personal touches were very nice (e.g., turn-down service that included port). Check-in was incredibly efficient -- we were in our room within about 45 seconds. The location in downtown Stellenbosch is fantastic -- across the street from a beautiful church and just one block from dozens of cafes and restaurants. And, of course, it's convenient to tons of wineries. Breakfast was served promptly, was delicious, and included everything one could want. This is a great guest house.

  The backpack was a really comfortable and welcoming place to stay. The common areas were laid back & relaxed and the place was very clean. Location was great & just a short walk from the top of Long Street and some good restaurants. Waterfront was a decent walk or a fairly quick taxi ride. Compared to some friends who were staying at numerous backpackers in and around Long Street, this sounded superior & I would definitel - It was my second time at this hostel and I came back three years later because I liked it. Apart from it being excellent for what is officially a backpackers place I really appreciate the attitude of owners and staff who are supporting community projects and take recycling seriously, something that is still not very wide spread in South Africa. Excellent Sandwiches and breakfast.

  The staff couldn't have been more helpful-they sincerely welcomed my wife and I, and catered to our every need with enthusiasm. Breakfast is awesome, with a wide choice and continuous replenishment, food is cooked on the spot, nothing pre-cooked here :).
