  We've spent about 8 weeks in St. Petersburg over the past 5 years as students, and our dorms were located in old Soviet apartment blocks; so this hotel was a welcomed change for our short visit back to Peter!! The hotel was very clean, which surprised me as most of St. Petersburg is on the dirtier side. I thought that aspect of the visit was excel... vad folk säger » lent. It also appeared that the rooms had been recently refurbished, with laminate wood flooring, an updated bathroom, and nice furnishings and wardro - A very correct hotel, with extremely large bar/ dining room complex and a pub open late. Excellent food in that pub (which is a rare thing to find in that town). Excellent coffee, and plenty of space to comfortably read a paper. Location is excellent - not right at the center with all its tourist traps but a little kickback at calm Vasilevsky Island. A very good place on the whole although on the expensive side.

I booked a regular double with patio view but was upgraded to 2-level room with the Moika channel view (cannot thank the hotel staff enough for that!).   I arrived by train and by taking Bus number 22 I have arrived at the Hotel an hour after. I had a very warm welcome from Alexander who explained to me all about the Hotel and the area.The room was very nice bed very comfortable and a nice warm bathroom. I totally recommend this Hotel. - I found there everything I needed - a working shower in a huge warm- floore (surprise!) bathroom, warm well furnitured room with a bottle of water for free (surprise!) and it was a real pleasure to have a cup of tea in bed, not in dining room (I asked the receptionist and he allowed me to take it from the ground floor) in the evening.
