  The room was rather spacious for a solo traveller, and the location (just next to the JR station - take the north exit and then the east exit) was great. The location itself is somewhere midway between Ueno and Shibuya on the JR line so it makes for a rather accessible location.   I've been staying at ryokan Sansuiso 2-3 times a year for the past 15 years. The value for the price is great. Don't expect the Ritz here, this is a small traditional style Japanese inn, the tatami mat rooms are small with fouton for sleeping. In the past few years they have upgraded to non-pay, flat screen TV's and free WiFi. These are very clea - Awesome in general. The staff were consistently thoughtful and happy, and jumped through hoops for us whenever we had even the smallest questions. They are more than kind, and the services offered are definitely appropriate to the price. Of course, the location is also brilliant, right on the Yamanote train line (Gotanda Station), and has a grocery store and many restaurants nearby.   Clean, silent, with features that make it suitable for a work trip as well as a long stay, very convenient. What I liked the most is the quality and accuracy of the details, from the toothpbrush and razor, to the very good soap. Excellent quality/price ratio: I recommended it!! - reasonably close to Shinagawa station. Cost is reasonable.

  I almost wish I had to stay longer. The stay was very pleasant. The staff was very helpful and spoke perfect english. This isn't a requirement for me, but it was very helpful as this was my first night in Tokyo. It's a nice 5 minute walk from the huge Shinagawa station. It's a great value. It's that kind of place. - This is an ideal choice for a young budget traveller who needs basic accommodation in order to be able to visit Tokyo. You have to be prepared to be considerate to others in order to maximize enjoyment of your stay. Staff will answer any questions you might have by email before you arrive.
