  Staff were friendly and we tried to tip the valet, but she refused our money and later we were advised by Japanese friends that this is customary as hotel already charges tax.   The hotel was excellent value for money and the buffet breakfast was extensive and delicious. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable, with more space than expected. The staff spoke good English and were very helpful. The hotel also runs a frequent shuttle bus too and from the JR Kyoto train station which is very convenient. - Staff are ver... vad folk säger » y polite and efficient. The Concierge was very helpful. There are not a lot of places to visit near to the hotel, but it is only a short walk to the stop for the bus to Gion. The hotel shuttle bus is great for getting to the station, from where you can get transport around the whole city.

  We were extremely impressed with the quality of the customer service provided to us by each and every hotel employee. In particular, Mr. Simon Finch, the lead concierge, was immensely friendly and helpful with every aspect of our stay. He is both a very skilled - Staff can speak good English Were pleasantly surprised when greeted by ladies in pink kimonos We only had one afternoon to spend from 2.00 pm onwards so it was great that it was so close to the Nijo Castle, then we walked down Nishiki Market near Shijo Dori. There is a nice little ramen restaurant in the corner of the street opposite Nijo Castle which we liked as they even have English menu.
