We're just back from only 1 night's stay at this fabulous country house. We arrived on Saturday afternoon to a welcome from Conor, who immediately guessed who we were before we even introduced ourselves! It seemed like he was eagerly awaiting our arrival!. alla recensioner » Bridget and Conor were very welcoming upon arrival at Gleannn Fia Country House. The grounds are beautiful, nestled along a babbling stream in a very peaceful, serene and quiet setting. Aftternoon tea was a special treat, as were the delicious breakfasts. Staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Conor's suggestions and directions for our trip along the Ring of Kerry were outstanding - including the recommendation to have pancakes (crepes) at Strawberry Field (they were to die . The hosts, Conor and Bridget, were as nice, helpful and attentive as anyone could ask for. The breakfasts each day were fantastic. The Inn was like being guests at someone's country home, coming and going and leaving the keys on your "hook", the honor system in the bar, the house cat, etc. Bridget was ever the gracious host at breakfast, and Conor was very knowledgeable and helpful with directions and "things to do" in the area. We stayed on recommendation of friends and would recommend as well. Everything about it was great. Friendly, helpful, Spottless, comfortable, homely, great value for money, great location for, walking, cycling, shopping, sight seeing, everything really. It was just the perfect place to be for all our needs and wants. Will be going back again. As good as and better than some four star hotels that we've been in. We dont know how they were able to offer all they did for the price. They were such a nice and guine couple. Will never forget the really nice time. Glenn Fia Country House has an excellent and quiet location not far from Killarney National Park and serves as a very good base for exploring the surrounding area. An indication of its nature friendliness is that you can see deer in the early morning from your sleeping room. We found our hosts to be very friendly and helpful and eager to inform us of the local points of interest and "must see" places as well as helping with any arrangements needed. One of our best experiences in Ireland. Connor and Bridget were absolutely amazing. On arrival , Connor was eager to answer our local travel questions and he gave excellent advice. They were both just so caring (I was advised of my fathers impending death whilst there(in Australia) and they could not have been more helpful. We loved the old style room and the ensuite was lovely (separate shower and bath as well as bidet and toilet ). I really liked the beautiful pure Irish woollen blankets. We were given a big airy room, beautifully cool in the hot weather and tastefully furnished. A particularly welcome detail was that the beds were dressed with sheets and blankets, not stuffy duvets. Breakfasts were the best we had in Ireland - which is saying something! Service was always attentive and friendly, with the owners going out of their way to be helpful. All in all our three days at Gleann Fia were the high point in an excellent holiday. The friendly welcome and the information given about the area when we checked in. Conor and Bridgid both have a great sense of humor and were perfect hosts.The rooms are large with big bathrooms.Breakfast was outstanding. Location perfect for hiking in the area.We are so glad we found Glenn Fia and for my partners first visit to Ireland it was perfect.Thank you again Brigid and Conor for a wonderful three days. It is a beautiful country house on lovely grounds in a quiet location which provides total relaxation. It is spotess throughout and the bedrooms are very comfortable. The owners and staff are genuinely nice and helpful. The food is excellent including homemade jam, marmalade and brown bread. . It is great value for money. We would definately stay there again and highly recommend it to our family and friends. Connor was a great host! He gave us such great recommendations and very friendly all around. The house is beautiful and sits next to a creek and there is a lovely walk that goes behind the house. We enjoyed our stay so much, we canceled the next night that we had booked somewhere else, and stayed there again. Can't wait to bring the kids back here. It is very special place: you live almost in the forest beside the small river... So romantic! There is many beautiful details in interior and the house has very good layout. The bath in room - it was great surprise for me cause I though that there is only shower! And I like very much the terrace with great view. Everything! Beautiful place, quiet, clean, comfortable large room including large en-suite, breakfasts, very friendly & helpful owners, ease of finding/access/parking. Comfortable lounge with good books & coffee. Wouldn't hesitate to return, nor would we bother looking at anywhere else in the area. We loved the whole experience. The host, Connor, couldn't be more attentive to our needs, & helpful in all things . Nothing was too much trouble . All our questions, & there were many, on varied topics, were answered fully, & at some length. I would give this establishment 10/10. We loved Staying in Gleann Fia, I would rate it 5 stars, and recommend for everyone who is traveling in Kerry. Would suggest to stay for longer though, than one day. So, if you are expecting king or queen sized beds, pillow top mattresses, and modern bathrooms, this is not the place. For the price, it was, however, a pleasant place to stay. There was nothing we didn't like about it. Oh, except that it wasn't long enough. A table of loud people at breakfast but that was very minor !!. Nothing. Everything was fine. We didn't like leaving.Wished we could have stayed longer. There was nothing we didn't like about it. No shower curtain. The bedding needs to be updated. Would have preferred tea and coffee facilities in our room although they were freely available in the lounge which was very sociable. not having tea-making facilities in the room, as I am up early this meant I had to go down stairs to the conservatory. Nothing!. The fact I only spent 1 night there. The decor in our room was a bit dowdy and in general the place looked a bit tired. The Wi Fi was difficult to access from the room. It would have been nice to have tea/coffee facilities in the room - although the common rooms (with facilities) are lovely. Would be nice to have tea or coffee in the bedrooms. Nothing else. Nothing. Furnishings were a bit dated for my tastes. Bedroom was cold and decor/furniture a little outdated. Water was only lukewarm in bathroom so we couldn't shower. On letsbookhotel.com it said only three rooms left.... yet we were the only guests in the guesthouse!!!! I noticed 23 keys hanging on board as reception. Overall house was a little on the cold side. Could have turned up the heating when we asked but didn't. nothing. Would have liked tea making facilities in room. Nothing - we were happy with everything. I thought the room was small, it was very hot as it was in the attic. The bed was very small for a double bed. it was all fine, no gripes or grumbles. Nothing.
