  This place is a 90 year old hotel and it wears it well. It's elevator is a clicketly-clack apparatus with a scissor gate-that you have to hold the floor number for a couple of seconds to roll- did I feel safe using it? Yes. Did I think it added to the ambiance? Absolutely.   I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in mid November. I have seen people raise there eyebrows when they learn this hotel is situated in Tenderloin area (which is considered a bit shady area). I too was reluctant to stay there but post my stay I experienced that it was not that badly located.
