  Me and my partner stayed at New Miyako Hotel from 16th - 21st of August 2013. We can easily find the hotel as it's very close to Kyoto station. There's lots of shopping and eateries to choose from. We also enjoy bar lagoon in the basement as well as the souvenir shop. The staffs are amazing and they help us book the Kyoto tour trip. There is a shopping mall at the next block (AEON), where there are many stores, and also Daiso (100-yen shop). The Toji temple was near from this hotel, as well as Kyoto Aquarium. To get to most temples, travelers have to take bus lines, that are just across Kyoto station. Staff friendly. Money exchange inside the hotel.

  The hotel was excellent value for money and the buffet breakfast was extensive and delicious. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable, with more space than expected. The staff spoke good English and were very helpful. There are not a lot of places to visit near to the hotel, but it is only a short walk to the stop for the bus to Gion. The hotel shuttle bus is great for getting to the station, from where you can get transport around the whole city.

The location was within walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, temples, the Nishiki market and surrounding shopping streets/department stores, Gion, as well as Kyoto station (more great shopping!), and was also very close to lots of public transport. It is a bit of a walk from neighborhoods that have a lot of eating and shopping options, but in exchange, it is quite while remaining central. Bicycle rental is convenient.
