  Good Friday was the best day of my entire life. Driving up from Kansas we were very kindly greeted upon arrival. Cute room with a fireplace. And a little balcony to over look the mts and a fire pit where people where enjoying their night. Extremely friendly staff - allowed me to check in early. Beautiful setting on the river, convenient to Rocky Mtn National Park. Nice, large room with couch in sitting area. Small balcony off the back of the room - made for a nice cross breeze. Fridge in room was nice for keeping snacks and drinks. Nice selection of complimentary snacks and homemade cake in lobby. hope to return again soon.

  Views were awesome. The Elk were constant visitors around the property and I got some excellent photos of some very large Elk does and males. When leaving on my last day there, I came out to find a large male just 10 to 15 feet away from the door laying in the snow and watching the does.   There is only one motel in Estes Park, Colorado. It is called the Maxwell Inn. Ani and I stayed there recently for our 20th wedding anniversary.   I would highly recommend Appenzell Inn. The staff was cordial and helpful. The room was recently updated and very much like hotel decor from Switzerland.   We were there for an 18-person family reunion. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs with regard to meals, rooms, and the like. The rooms were generally comfortable, although the sofa beds were less so. The pool and hot tub were very well maintained and the children loved them. We were looking to stay in a suite and the lodge does not have a suite. All the rooms have a different floor plan as well but, the caretaker was more than happy to take care of us and even lowered our rate!
