In beautiful rural Cumbria, this traditional pub and restaurant dates from 1611. The Angel Inn offers home-cooked meals and real ales, amongst the charming 17th-century stone buildings of Alston village.
The starting point for the scenic South Tynedale Railway, England's highest narrow gauge train line, is 5 minutes’ walk from the Angel. Village pubs and restaurants are on the doorstep.
Rooms each have a private bathroom, as well as a TV and free tea and coffee.
Providing full English breakfasts every morning, the Angel also serves hearty evening meals in the restaurant and in the quiet garden.
At about 1000 feet above sea level, Alston is the highest market town in England. The tranquil local hills are just a few minutes’ walk from the Inn, and the Coast to Coast Route and Pennine Way Walk pass through the town.

Pub with accommodation and food suited us perfectly, meaning we could park up, have a meal and drink without any worries of drinking and driving.

Second time i have stayed there, Ken the landlord is such a nice bloke and makes you feel welcome and his staff. Always have a good laugh with the locals at the bar. Great cooked breakfast. Excellent place.todos opiniões »
The staff are very helpful and welcoming . The full English Breakfast filled me up till the evening !!!! It was Fab

The Angel Inn is 400 years old, full of character and a friendly atmosphere. Within that is modern accommadation, personal hospitality and good food and Ales.
Great hospitality, big coal fire, excellent food and real ale. Atmosphere very welcoming and friendly. Fantastic location ideal for walking and motor biking.

When I arrived the place was closed. The bar side of the business does not trade between 3pm and 7pm but this is not mentioned on letsbookhotel.com website.

Very noisy as near a cobbled main road. Not open at first, so felt a bit weird having to knock to go in. Slightly shabby but service was good and breakfast very good.
Can be very busy till late (past midnight)- if you like a lively pub and are on a tight budget, this is for you; if you are after peace and tranquility, in sound proof luxury, then its not. Accomodation showing its age.
Noisy toilet.
When booking through letsbookhotel.com a few hours before there wasn't any one at the place to let me in until after 18.00 hours when check in was meant to be at 15.00 hours and then they were not sure if they had a room for me.
A very old establishment and it shows. We arrived mid-afternoon and the
place was closed, nobody to be found, for about an hour. Nice people.
Rooms were grubby, but food was ok. We don't think The Angel Inn
does anythng at all for the reputation of bookings.com.
