Wonderful to stay in an historic building but with really high quality features. The breakfasts were incredible, definitely worth having and at €5 were an absolute bargain. Loved the quiet, rural location but with easy access to other gorgeous towns - 35 minute train to San Sebastián from Zumaia was a real bonus. Incredibly helpful staff, making excellent suggestions for restaurants, attractions/towns to visit and driving routes added considerably to our enjoyment

Very high quality building. Kitchen and bathroom facilities were great. Cheap use for laundry / washing machine, close drive to some awesome parks, lakes and mountain townships. Helpful staff and provided useful day trip advise. We liked it so much we stayed an extra two nights. Back rooms have excellent mountain views to enjoy with private terraces. The room was large and comfortable and made to feel homely with superb antique furniture. The location was very handy for the railway station just around the corner. Breakfast was good but the highest special praise must go to the owner who made our stay even better by helping us plan our activities and offered advice in her own inimitable style. A wonderful guest house.

When we arrived after a long journey, we were so welcomed by Hesther, it felt like being part of her family. We were shown around and the house had a wonderful feeling, especially knowing it dated from 12th century. The views to the mountains were so beautiful, i wish we were staying there longer.The owner was very friendly and made our daughter feel special, cooking something she liked. We fell in love with this place and hope to return one day.

This was a very pleasant pension. We had a double and a single room for our daughter. The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. It was quite well located with only a ten minute walk to the old town where we spent a lot of time. The coffee which is free was lovely. The location is very close to San Sebastian RENFE station. It is also couple of minute to the beach.
It is very clean and almost new since the owner just repaint the pension.
It is definetiley worth place to stay and if I am going to san sebastian, I will definitely come back to this pension

Beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean,this lovely small hotel deserves four stars rather than two. It was slightly difficult to find (sat-nav very helpful) but is a lovely peaceful rural retreat. It is set in vineyards and is on the eddge of the little town of Gaintza,which had great strategic significance in Napoleonic times.

Clean, quiet, with all the amenities and comforts on a hilltop above Getaria surrounded by vineyards.
The staff were polite and discreet and willing to help us even in small everyday difficulties of our journey.

Really beautiful and comfortable palace with the surrounding countryside providing the perfect setting. Only 30mins drive to San Sebastián. 45 mins to Bilboa. Everything was just great. Restaurant is outstanding. The chef - a charming guy - likes to meet his guests and talk about his dishes and the way he prepares them. The "black" fillet steak is brilliant!!
