Located across the road from Taupo’s main beach, Gables Lakefront Motel offers stunning lakefront views, free Wi-Fi, an indoor swimming pool and a hot tub. Each self-contained apartment features a 43-inch satellite TV and a kitchen or kitchenette with tea/coffee making facilities, a microwave and a refrigerator. Most rooms offer beautiful views of Lake Taupo and the mountains. Continental and cooked breakfast can be arranged upon request. Luggage storage and laundry facilities are also provided. Free on-site parking is available. The Gables is located 7 minutes’ drive from Taupo Airport. The famous Huka Falls are 15 minutes’ drive away. Tauhara Golf Course, as well as a number of fishing and skiing options, are a 5-minute drive away.

You never quite know when you book "on-line" what a motel will be like so you take a bit of a chance, as we did. My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised when we were directed to end of the block to find such a well appointed unit. The kettle was put on and soon we were able to sit down outside and take in the fantastic view across the lake while enjoying a cuppa. There are cheapo motels and then the Hilton. todos opiniões » The first thing you notice about the Gables is the view situated perfectly on the edge of Lake Taupo with a view of Tangarirro looming in the distance - spectacular. The second thing you will note is the personal attention and true hospitality from Chris and the staff upon check in. From explaining facilities and helpful tourism hints Chris was a joy. Finally you will get to the beautifully refinished, simple, modern, and comfortable accommodations, with floor to ceiling windows opening onto th. I loved the site across from the lakefront - awesome location. I really liked the way our group of four friends were made to feel welcome; the unit was well stocked with teas, coffees (including plunger coffee!), milk and a great selection of crockery/cutlery, numerous towels. Beds were comfortable and the unit was quiet in spite of being right on the busy main road into the township. Our group were impressed with the reasonable tariff for a 2-night stay in a 2 bedroom unit. We love that it's on the lake side but not as pricey or swanky as some other places. We always book a unit with hot tub. They have recently renovated and added new units which we tried and they were excellent. Casual friendly atmosphere provided by all staff we encountered. Having a spa pool with the same room was very nice and enjoyable. Staff servicing the rooms were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We liked the welcoming and friendly staff, facilities and the lakeside location. When we return to Lake Taupo we will certainly consider the Gables Motel again. Motel was a little dated and expensive but the good things about it outweighed this. Hot tub, location, comfort and warmth, in room facilities all great. Great hosts, and a great location. Bed a little soft for my liking but maybe thats just because I'm getting to the grumpy old man stage of life. Can't think of anything right now!. The rooms are tied. Shower behind the door made the bathroom tight to move around in. Also layout wouldn't suit anyone with a disability. The street sign was not lit at night time which made it difficult to find at night. The cobblestones in the driveway were loose a.d are in need of repair. No radio!. 60's decor/furnishings and required repaint inside and out, a little maintenance wouldn't go amiss especially entrance door catch which was almost falling off. Could do with refurbishment to bring up to modern standards. tv placed in weird area uncomfortable couches (not enough for us) stairs to bedrooms and toilet downstairs. Very dated. Our coffee supply was not replenished each day, the amount of towels daily was inconsistent. One of the heaters seemed quite unsafe I was not comfortable using it. Very squashed bathroom.
