Located in the sacred Mount Koya area, Yochi-in is simple minimalistic accommodation in a historic temple, offering meditation and prayer experiences. Vegetarian meals are served in the guestroom. Parking is provided for free.
While staying at Yochiin, guests can try transcribing sutra (Buddhism scriptures) with an advance reservation and extra fee. Guests are welcome to join the Morning Prayer in the main temple, and leave their luggage at the front desk. The spacious public baths feature a hot tub.
Offering the views of Japanese gardens, each room is fitted with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and traditional futon bedding. A TV, a fan and a heater are provided. Bathroom and toilet are shared with other guests. Guests with a meal plan can receive free amenities.
It is a 5-minute walk from the famous Kongobuji Temple. Koyasan cable-car stop is a 10-minute drive away.
Featuring seasonal dishes, delicately prepared homemade vegetarian meals can be enjoyed in the privacy of guests’ own room.

Traditional room in the temple. Friendly monks who try their best to
help but English levels are basic so don't expect any conversations
outside of what they expect to discuss with you (check in/out,
explain the facilities and food etc).
The dinner and breakfast were delivered to the room at the time requested. The food, which is all vegetarian, was very well presented.
You need to remember it is a temple and not a five star hotel. The room was a little cold at first but the heater quickly war. todos opiniões »
A very nice place to stay at, the building, an old temple, is beautiful, and located close to the important sights of mount Koya. The staff does not speak English very well, but is very helpful. The possibility to attend the morning prayers in the temple (at 6.30am) is worth getting up early (don't forget to bring a coin for the offering).
Excellent food for dinner and breakfast, nice and helpful staff (English spoken). Good bathroom for a relaxing time and a beautiful garden entrance where you can sit at night and see the stars. Koya San is a special place where you can relax and find peace, we highly recommend a visit there.
the Koyasan World Heritage 2 day pass is great for its access. This inn has all the temple experiences you will look for. Public bath a bit awkward, but a good experience. In between The Karan (main temple established) and the Reihokan museum. Morning prayer insightful. Nice zen garden.

Totally inspiring stay!!.
The monk made us feel at home and welcome from the moment he arrived. He even recommended us a good Izakaya nearby as we opted for the breakfast only option. The hot bath is wonderful for the cold Koyasan nights.
The opportunity to worship with the monks on a daily basis is something not to turn your nose up at, a very humbnling experience. Located a brief walk away from the sights and pilgrimage trails.
We had a good time, room was clean. The only one problem is that you can everything what your neighbours do.
Well, if i am again in Koyasan I will stay in the yoch-in.

Hardly a complaint, but we were there in November and it was extremely cold in the building. The room has a heater so don't worry!.
The room was hot (summer) and you can hear people on the other rooms talking and some times too loud. It would be important that the staff will take care about that aspect because it is hard to sleep if other guests are bothering you.
Morning prayer could use a translator, had to depend on another tourist who understood the language, who was too many other guests away for me to comprehend.
NOt Really negatives... Just pointers : Don't like to hear people snoring but with paper walls it is expected I guess. Communal shower is not something I would do thus showered after communal hours. Beds removed after breakfast. Temple gates close at 10pm but there is nothing to really do after 10pm in Koyasan apart from graveyard walk in which case you need to watch out for BEARS!.
Due to the temple gongs and being a light sleeper, it wasn't my best night's sleep, but the tatami, futon and heater meant the room was very comforable.
The doors are closed at 9pm, so once in your closed in, or conversely if you miss the door closing your stuck out.
The fact that the room was located next to the stairs leading to the sinks.
The beds were quite uncomfortable.
Spending time in the room outside of meal time or sleeping isn't completely comfortable given the style of accommodation.
