Charming B&B in the true sense, where the hosts are proud of the place they run, where home made products are served for breakfast and where one is welcomed in a warm and personal way.
Location is AAA.. interior is pretty stylish for originally very poor man's lodgings. One could not wish for more anywhere really..!

We very much enjoyed the experience staying at this B&B. While old
and original on the outside (being part of the Sassi di Matera), the
inside is modern, extremely well arranged and comfortable. The service
was great and the overall value was good.

Very hospitable hosts, very good accommodation across the street from their restaurant, where excellent breakfasts were served. It was a good experience to stay in the centre of Matera.

This is one of the best BB's we ever stayed. The room was very convenient, quiet and nicely decorated. The location is just perfect in the heart of Matera with a walking distance to all interesting places, but also 10 minutes walk to the

From Aldo's kind greeting, complete explanation of all the facilities and help to find the secure parking for our car (he even accompanied me to it, organised a cheap special rate for our 2 days, and then walked back to the B&B with me - 10 minutes walk) to Rosa's breakfasts and her kind attention to detail.

We loved everything about this place. The apartment itself was spacious and clean; the balcony, looking out over the sassi and the Duomo, was fabulous and perfect for an afternoon aperitivo. The cafe/bar downstairs was great and run by a friendly woman. Best of all were Aldo and Rosa... the best hosts ever! Fra Sassi is situated in a perfect spot with a fantastic view of the Sassi area of Matera. From the B&B walking the main areas of the Sassi is easy and accessable. Fabulous place. We were made to feel so welcome on arrival and were greeting in reception with a plate of nibbles and a glass of wine which went down well after the long drive. The beach seemed like our own private beach just a short walk away. View from our window and terrace was spectacular.
