  Annesdale is close to the train station and an easy walk to shops and restaurants in Windermere. The hosts of Annesdale are very friendly. We appreciated that they gave us (and our luggage) a ride to the train station.   Friendly owner (Ian) rang us before our arrival on the day and met us as we arrived even though it was late. Ian checked what we would like for breakfast the following day (and did this each day of our stay) and gave us a map of the local area- pointing out things of interest. Quiet road and room, even when the B+B was full. Well located as only 5 mins walk into th - I stayed there for 2 nights with my frd. Ian and Lynn were very friendly and helpful. The room and the en suite bathroom are super comfortable and clean. The breakfast is also good. The hotel locates in a tranquil block just besides a brook and is about 10 minutes walk from Windermere railway station & bus stop. To me it was not too far and there are many good gift shops on the way from the station to the hotel. The guest house was one of the factor that makes my stay in the Lake District
