As we were arriving the front desk staff (I think the owners) let us know that outside we could currently see the northern lights. From the field right there they were visible, they then suggested a place to drive to (about 10 minutes away) to escape the light pollution of Selfoss and see them even better.   Very tastefully decorated guesthouse with a cosy room (including a sink). The breakfast offered very good choice with good coffee and tasty Skyr. The bathroom was shared with one other room which wasn’t an issue – having a sink in the bedroom reduces the need for the bathroom. The owner was very friendly and we had a great game of ball with her Ice - This is a fabulous guesthouse. The owner could not do enough for us including booking restaurants and giving advice about activities in the area. The guesthouse was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. We would highly recommend the Fagrahlid Guesthouse. Its proximity to the Eyjafjallajokull volcano and to the south coast sights is great.

  My partner and I stayed at Grimsborgir for three nights and we absolutely loved it. In fact, we wished we could have stayed for longer. We arrived at the hotel on a Sunday afternoon to a warm welcome and were given a free upgrade to a four bedroom apartment (No. 15). It felt like a palace after the small rooms we'd been staying in for the previous week. The view was (is) beautiful, the apartment luxurious, and the staff professional and kind.   Me and my girl spend a wonderfull night at this guesthouse which is actually more like a nice comfy bed and breakfast. Sigga and her husband are amazing friendly and well travelled people and made us feel really at home. They offer you a room in their own house. So you use their kitchen and facilities. There is a nice dog, quiet most of the time . The tenants are really nice and make you feel comfortable at home and also they like to talk and share experiences. The house is clean and warm. The breakfast is wonderful : They try to make you taste Icelandic food. The bath tube is not available in winter. A place I recommend.

  The cottage was very spacious and comfortable. It was quite close to the geysers, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellir national park, and a couple of hours' drive from 'the volcano', also a glacier which we walked on. The Wi-Fi didn't reach as far as our cottage, but it was a strong signal in reception and - The cabin was cozy and warm, made of wood, and had homemade touches like country style curtains and Christmas lights. The farmers that ran it were friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Best of all, the enclosed personal hot tub made it unbelievable! We enjoyed the peace and quiet and were able to cook for ourselves.
