  First we were surprised that it was not a separate building, it is only one floor in a big building and the owners are living there. The room was small, but there was a bathroom inside, and was nicely furnished and clean! There were also shampoos and gel which was a nice surprise. Unfortunately we didn’t receive a room with balcony to the square, ... wat mensen zeggen » but we have to admit that we booked on the same day of arrival and it turned out to be more silence the room that we received. Beautiful bars and rest - We were on the Camino del Norte and Bilbao was our last stop on this segment . this pension is ideally located beside the Cathedral on the Old City and on the route forward. We intend to stay here again when we resume the Camino next year. The shopping districts and indeed the Guggenheim were only a short walk away (say 15 minutes to 25 minutes) while there was plenty of restaurants etc in the Old City. A very helpful and obliging host in this Pension.

Quirky-yes, comfortable-yes, interesting-definitely (ask to see the different rooms), recommended-yes just be aware that there is no lift and the whole hotel is on the third floor which is no problem if you are in reasonable health. Each room had a unique theme. Arty! Location in the Casco Viejo (old quarter) is charming and romantic. In spite of difficulties, now that I know where it is and how to get in, I'd go again in a heart beat.

The room was cold on arriving, I called the staff, it was heated in half an hour.

  For the money, it was one of the most spacious and bright rooms I have had for the category. The criticisms that this place got was minor and I don't get it. One side of the room is floor to ceiling windows. Really light and bright. Clean and spacious for the price. Right in the Old Town close to bars and restaurants and you can walk everywhere. The outside of the pension has p** on it even though the name is - Location couldn't have been better, right in the old town. Staff were lovely, though English isn't really spoken they will do their best to communicate. Room was really nice. Breakfast isnt' fancy but it is adequate (Tea, coffee, toast, ceral and pastry) Entry is via buzzer only and you need to leave room key in reception when you leave.
