  I would highly recommend Hostal Sonsoles. We had a double room with two single beds. The room size was decent (I've stayed in smaller ones in New York), and the bathroom was large (with good water pressure too). The building has a lift (elevator), although I found myself just using the stairs to get to the hostal. The location can't be beat as you... wat mensen zeggen » 're right on Fuencarral, which is a very happening street. There were all sorts of goings on all day and night, and even though we had a room facing t - The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Room was equipped with a safe and hair dryer, toiletries and towels replenished every day. The staff were lovely, the location was very central and near lots of good bars, restaurants and clubs. Great value, will definitely stay here again.

  We stayed for 2 nights on our arrival to Madrid (into Atocha Station, which is about a 10 minute walk straight down Calle Atocha); the young, ultra-helpful staff was a pleasure to deal with - they are sharp people and we found no shortage of good English among them. Location was outstanding, there are small street shortcuts to every major downtown... wat mensen zeggen » spot (Puerto Sol, Plaza Mayor, the museums, Retiro Park, the double decker bus stops, great restaurants very close in Plaza Santa Ana). We had a simp - I rarely give top marks on the grounds there should always be room for some improvement but I'm struggling to find any fault with the Catalonia Atocha. Within half an hour of booking I received a "welcome" email from the hotel with detailed and useful information on how to find the hotel whatever the mode of transport, I’ve never had this before from an hotel, it boded well and I was not disappointed. Without exception the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful, and equally happy to speak

  The apartment was neat and very well located, near the avenue of La Gran Via and just footsteps away from La Puerta de Sol, the street Hortaleza is very alive, many kind of stores are near the aparment, even a little, but very practical, convenience store where you can pack up with stuff to cook. Great value for money. - The location was wonderful and even though the staff didn't know any English, we didn't have any trouble checking in. We stayed in the family apartment with a private bathroom and there was plenty of space to move around. No crowding. The kitchenette was really helpful for keeping cold drinks and making oatmeal in the morning. Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby.

The room was small, but we had a lovely large window with french doors, very clean, rooms cleaned daily, very quiet even though in the centre of the city right off Gran Via.
