Als je uit het metrostation op de Plaza del Sol stapt, ligt het hotel vlak voor je (heel handig om met de metro van en naar de luchthaven te gaan).   Really nice hotel. Location is exactly what is mentioned in all other reviews. The girls from reception - Maria and Elena -were very hospitable and friendly and both deserve a certain salary increase. Rooms are not much specious but always clean and tidy. The hotel itself is renewed build recently and you can see it at once. I would not recommend that you take the breakfast as it is not in the same block, it does not open till 10 or 10.30am and it is not worth the value for the money you pay - Euro 4.for a coffee and a toast.   We loved the cleanliness of the Hostal. We also enjoyed the excellent location and walking distance to historical sites and museums. Our host, Luisa was excellent, helpful and very friendly. She was there to greet us and allowed us to come back for an extra day after our train to Paris was cancelled. Her brother was also very helpful and friendly.... wat mensen zeggen » We would come back to the same Hostal without hesitation next time we visit Madrid. - Loved the location, Hostal Mayor was close to major attractions such as Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. It was also very near the underground. Shower had great pressure and the rooms were very clean. In addition to this the view from the balcony was also great. Over all a nice comfortable place to stay, we enjoyed it and would recommend to others

  The studio apartment was very good and over-looking the main tourist area. Yet it was not noisy as the air-conditioning and sound-proofing was good. The first day the studio was a hole-in the wall. But they apologised and cut a third of the room rent and moved us the next day. So when you book insist on the second floor apartment. - Perfect Locat... wat mensen zeggen » ion!!!   The hostal was basic but excellent value for money. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the location was superb just off the Grand Via and within walking distance of all city attractions. In fact we cancelled another booking for later on in the holiday so that we could stay here again.This is a bed for the night, not a place to hang out in, ... wat mensen zeggen » and as such is perfect for the budget traveller. - The staff were friendly and did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible, and for the quality of the room, the price was absolutely excellent. The room had free wifi and air conditioning, which ensured we had a comfortable stay. The location was fantastic, right in the shopping area of Madrid.
